- Flex-Marker können an MIDI-Noten ausgerichtet werden und einrasten.
- Punch-In-Aufnahmen im Replace-Modus verhalten sich nun korrekt.

Apple is known for their unclear information, the previous info told us it is Intel and Leopard only. In fact it works on a G5, too.Leopard is a must, unfortunately.
Wie man weiss ist Apple ja nicht so offen nach außen und man traut ihnen auch radikale Dinge zu, Logic 9 zB wird auf dem G5 Powermac laufen, allerdings auch nur mit Leopardenzwang. Die erste Info dazu ist hier. Besonders schnell wird es nicht sein nach eigenen Angaben, aber es GEHT. Hier unsere Diskussion dazu

Das neue Glas-Trackpad ohne Tasten aber mit 4-Finger System, ersetzt TASTEN! und die komische neue Mini-Displayport-Monitorverbindung ist drin. Max. 5 Stunden Akkulaufzeit soll das neue MacBook bieten, sind in echt vermutlich nur mit kleinster Helligkeit und wenig Aktion erreichbar, wäre aber groß, bisher waren es effektiv doch eher unter 3h.
Ob Firewire drin ist, wird nicht gesagt, dürfte DIE Entscheidung sein, ob Musiker damit was anfangen können oder nicht. Wäre ohne das wohl die dümmste Entscheidung ever.
Und es stimmt: Kein Firewire mehr, womit man keine Audiointerfaces wie RME FW400/800 und Motu 828 mk1-3 mehr nutzen kann. Tja, damit wird Apple den Ruf bekommen extrem teuer zu sein für Musiker oder man arbeitet nur mit 2 Ausgängen und internem Audio. Dann gehts. Oder USB Audio, was geht, aber doll ist das ja nicht. Schade, Apple. Nicht aufgepasst. Design vor Nutzen ist ein Problem.

Fazit: Macbooks sind eine echte Enttäuschung für Musiker, die Macbooks Pros sind damit wohl dann die Liga, die man haben muss, wenn man vernünftig damit arbeiten will, sofern man die üblichen Audiointerfaces nutzen will. Das Pro hingegen scheint in allen Kategorien gewonnen zu haben bis auf den dämlichen Hochglanzspiegelscreen. Das ist live nicht so gut.
Man sollte also jetzt schauen, was man wirklich braucht. Mehr als je zuvor.

Neue FireWire-Spezifikationen versprechen vier mal größeren Datendurchsatz
Könnte sehr interessant für Audiointerfaces sein, insbesondere von Firmen wie RME oder Motu. Sicher aber dann nicht sofort, eher in 2009. Tolle Aussicht wäre das sicher. Sicher werden die in den neuen Nehalem Macs noch nicht enthalten sein können, vielleicht aber in denen danach.
Firewire gets 4times faster, that means for us: Cool new audio products in 2009 and again PCI becomes more and less attractive since you can run FW an almost all computers.
