looks a lot like the newer kind of (almost expensive) controllers these days. touch keys and ribbons like the eigenharp. but doesn’t mean to be such a bad idea, waiting for new “input devices”. me still waiting for a simple normal keyboard that allows the keys being a controller..?

TouchOSC doesn’t work on current OS
Hmm, got TouchOSC on iPhone, paid my 3,99 but doesn’t work, it says not with my OS, but the OS is the most recent, sent Email, no response. So this looks like a don’t buy it recommendation, so far. maybe it works on 4.0 then, but it’s not out, yet.
I am still bovvered.

Control MAQ16 via Launchpad (MAQ steuern)

note what most of this can be done with numerology without hardware, but this is a nice way to use the MAQ16 as it should be used..
here’s what he though..
.. bought a Novation Launchpad to experiment further with Ableton Live. But I also wanted to see if the Launchpad can be used to control the Doepfer MAQ16/3. I discovered the AutoMap software provided with the Launchpad is a bit of a disappointment. As far as I know now you cannot send a Program Change message with the buttons. And the MAQ16/3 needs them. I also did not get the MIDI learn function to work but maybe I missed something and the documentation is not much help.
Anyway, I used the MIDI-OX software to translate the MIDI notes, which the Launchpad sends, to Program Change commands with the Data Mapping option. I am only using the top 4 rows. The buttons on the first row turns step 1 to 8 on. The second row turns step 1 to 8 off. The third row sets the first step of the 8 step sequence and the forth row sets the last step of the 8 step sequence. Also the top 4 arrow buttons on the right are used. The first one turns all steps on. The second one turns all steps off. The third one chooses the first row on the MAQ16/3 sequencer and the forth one chooses the second row on the MAQ16/3 sequencer. You first have to choose the row on the sequencer where after the buttons apply for that row. It would be easier if the first four button rows could be used for row 1 on the sequencer and the second four button rows for row 2 but I could not map one note command to two program change commands.
The first row on the MAQ16/3 sequencer drives the Synthesizers.com Modular and the second row the self-built Modular.

Der Hardware Controller hat einen Touchscreen 800×600 mit dem ich den Step Sequencer und die Multistage Hüllkurve mit den Fingern steuern kann.
Alles andere mache ich über die Regler. Dazu habe ich rund 90 Potis und 30 Schalter verbaut und verdrahtet, zum Schluss ca. 123 Funktionen bzw. Midi CC Werte.

Our first hardware product is the Madrona Soundplane A, a force-sensitive surface forintimate control of electronic music. What is intimate control? Instruments like the violin and hand drums give the player a very responsive connection to sound through their physical construction. In a state of creative flow, we stop thinking about these instruments as separate devices and speak directly through them. In a very real sense they become part of us.
On a typical MIDI keyboard, most of the information from each finger gesture is thrown away, and the rest is boiled down into a single 7-bit velocity value. The Soundplane A transmits x, y and pressure data at about 1000 samples per second, letting the synthesist move beyond the ADSR model for control and articulate each note individually, as on an acoustic instrument. An array of very responsive capacitive sensors detects a range of forces from anextremely light touch to a hard slap. A DSP calibrates the sensors dynamically and sends the data via USB.
