How does it work?
This method is based around the concept of a user-defined graph. The graph consists of nodes (musical events) and edges (connections between events). You interactively define the graph, which is then traversed by any number of voices. These voices play the musical events as they encounter them on the graph. The time taken to travel from one node to another is based on the length of the edges that connect the nodes. Nodal allows you to create complex, changing sequences using just a few simple elements. RME Fireface upgrades – more stable
I have updated the RME stuff quite a while ago when Snow Leopard was very new and they all went to 64bits. Well with taking some hurdles of updating and deleting I fixed my problems on the Mac and updated the Fireface 800 to 2.72 and now it’s also back – I can switch it on and off and nothing freezes. I had those problems after the 2.64 update and did not dare to switch it off when I did not need the audio interface (just surfing etc).
so it’s back to what it always was – stable. just in case some1 has the same problems – here’s one of them in german @ forum:
- cpu oder rme fireface, wer ist schuld.. ?.
just Win7 still hangs and Glitch Loops, but as always PCs are not good at Firewire Audio, still. Even 64 Bit Win7 it’s still hard to make it work within some minutes, hours..

New Sonic Arts Granite Granular Texture Generator
Reminds me of what I did with the EPS16+ and ASR10 back in the 90s: Sampling with LFO modulated Position and other things to extend my simple “speech sample” to make it a crowd on my first CD “regression”, well – here’s a PC only plugin that tries to do exactly that – since it is Windows this is just for you non Mac-ists. and it sounds like this to them. My answers are still on my first 3 Albums if you want to listen to recycled and looped samples..

It’s free for 5.0 users, looks like it’s main feature is a better multi core handling which can be useful, as a non-owner I can not prove it – open CL also is added. they added some better efficiency for some parts/built-in plugs as well.

Xplorer Oberheim Xpander & Matrix 12 Realtime-Editor/Automator (PC only)
Xplorer. is a PC only (looks like it) project, he says
his document is a rework of three old text files dealing with the Oberheim Xpander / Matrix-12 MIDI implementation. This rework was done in order to get a more human readable set of information. Changes or additional information about the MIDI implementation were added when required. Redundant information between theses files was removed. A sample C/C++ source code of a single patch viewer is included in the archive. and looks like this:
Xplorer’s goal is to control in real-time all of the 226 parameters of a Xpander tone.

- UI needs to be finished (It’s currently only a prototype. Disabled controls, up/down control, colors for automated parameters,etc.. has to be done). Some controls need to be resized to enable touch screen handling.

Propellerheads Reason 5 & Record 1.5
These are the new devices in Reason 5. Most of it dedicated to Drums and Looping/Sampling in Real time but looks like there is still no MIDI out which has been the main reason why I went for Hardware those days -

the integration of all the internal synths is still cool and well integrated and looks like they try to do the audio thing via devices which isn’t bad at all. There’s Pitch Correction “Auto Tune” called Neptune, a “Battery” Style MPC Look Drum Engine called Kong and some Modules that simulate analogue drum modules, compressors, filters etc. so Reason 5 is somewhat modular. Same with Record 1.5. It is very close to be sort of DAW for Reason but it’s all just for internal synth, MIDI is not going out. but it can handle everything internal..
they still rely on ReWire for ext.stuff.

White Apple MacBook – Updated – Neues kleines Macbook
updated, 2.4GHz now, only 2GB built in (so get yourself cheap4GB somewhere when buying one), NVidia Geforce Graphics (!!), no Firewire (careful for audio stuff!!). So not much but better and more expensive (it’s Apple!) – get the 13″ MBP for 150€ more incl 4GB and Firewire – that’s what I’d recommend here. since FW and RAM is worth that and looks better btw. I assume this one may be for ppl who aren’t into music or video ;)
Neues kleines Macbook im alten Stil mit Grafikkarte und etwas wenig RAM bei Kauf (wie so oft) und kleiner Festplatte (250GB), alles dennoch besser als vorher aber auch teurer, wie gewohnt von Apple. Für Audio ok, aber kein Firewire, deshalb vielleicht 150€ mehr ausgeben? Das ist nämlich der Unterschied und hat dann gleich 4GB drin, also wer sparen muss, sollte sich das überlegen. Für Audio lohnt sich das einfach. Die mickrige Festplatte ist aber Standard. Solid State HD lohnt sich ggf. sogar eher. Die gibt es für das kleine komischerweise auch nicht.
