ABOUT this System reminds a bit of the SH5 and it's exatcly the SH-Sound (thats a good thing). of course it has no manual BPF like the SH5 but it is modular. to be exact: it is semimodular because it allows not to access ALL parts. system parts: (101: 1 ADSR, 1x Filter 12dB/oct LPF, 1x LFO, 102: 1x ADSR , ringmod, 1x LFO, 1x Filter 12dB/oct LPF, 104: sequencer, 103: mixer) surely you can use the two 102 + 101 as 2 synths, so it is 2 voice

ABOUT Das System erinnert in viele Punkten an die SH-Serie, speziell dem SH5, jedoch etwas vollständiger, es hat dafür nicht den BPF des SH5. wirklich modular? eher semi, denn manche punkte lassen sich nicht abgreifen. semimodular ist er aber schon. es besteht aus mehreren teilen (101: 1 ADSR, 1x Filter 12dB/oct LPF, 1x LFO, 102: 1x ADSR , ringmod, 1x LFO, 1x Filter 12dB/oct LPF, 104: sequencer, 103: mixer) klar, die beiden einheiten könnten als 2 unabhängige synthesizer genutzt werden. daher 2 voice.

DETAILS has an extra sample and hold. LFO can trigger ENV(s). has ext. input. fast envs and nice resonance with help of filter FM by OSC2 or noise mod. the complete synth is the 101 + 102 that both provide a 12 dB/oct LPF to make one 24 dB/oct (if you want it). the 104 sequencer has 12steps with 2 rows. btw do not confuse the System 100 with the System 100m!

LFO kann ENV(s) triggern. hat ext. input. kann sehr interessante klänge mit seinen schnellen ENVs und resonanz und filter fm erzeugen (VCO2 oder noise als quelle für filtermod mit resonanz). die beiden haupteinheiten 101 + 102 ergeben zwei LPF filter und können auch als ein 24 dB/oct. genutzt werden. der 104 ist ein 12step sequencer mit 2 reihen. das system wird gern verwechselt mit dem 100m, was aber anders aussieht *G*

the Roland System 100 consists of 101 basic unit, the "expander" 102, the sequencer 104 and mixer 103
it is very very similar to the sh5.
1)the expander and basic unit provide a 12dB/oct. LPF and the typical non-vc or dynamically modulated hpf (fixed for just thin out the sound a bit..).. each unit offer a VCO with PWM (the sh5 has both in one unit),also you can find an envelope generator on each unit.., same for lfo.
the sequencer is 12step the mixer 104 is a normal audio mixer, so it may not be that important these days.. the system 100 is very different from the system 100m but it is still "semimodular"...

btw: there are some pictures on the net showing 5 pots instead of 3 (like my 104 sequencer pic -->)
and the mixer looks different,too.. but in fact I did not see other versions in real life than the version shown here..

speeding up the lfo? check info here in the SH5 section (because it's the same as on the sh5's).
to be exact: very similar to the SH-5, not so similar to the sh-7 but it has a nice manual controllable BPF but no semimodular patchable modulesroland system 100 synthesizer
for ring modulation you needed to get the expander 102, same for S/H (sample & hold), but is the same tech. as used in the sh5 (again).. means: you can set the gate and time!! I'd hope that newer synth will give us back those 2 s/h parameters.. but there are not many synth.. (like A6 andromeda or modulars..)

this is the System100 - Sequencer (module 104)... you see the similarity of the sh5 and system 100? ;) may work together nicely!
12 steps max. and very easy to use. module 103 was a mixing system..
