ABOUT simpler and downsized Version of the DX7 with 4 OP (Oscillators) instead of 6 and simpler Envelopes. DX11 had full velocity and AT along with multimode and 8 waveforms. btw: quite hyped in YU / balkan for some ethnic sounds or something..
ABOUT kleinere abgespeckte Version des DX7 mit 4 statt 6 Operatoren (Oszillatoren). Sonst aber mit ähnlichen Möglichkeiten, aber einfacheren Hüllkurven. DX11 hatte endlich auch eine anschlagdynamische Tastatur (und AT) , Multimode (8fach) und 8 Wellenformen. Kult in YU, offenbar wegen gewisser typischer Sounds.

DETAILS the keyboard sends velocity but max. 120, so something missing from 121 up to 127, remote midi gear might sound "weak" when controlled from the DX7. 16bit DACs and 4 OP FM. 8 algorithms how the OPs (OSCs) are routed. fast lfo. all OPs have velocity control. Envelope: like ADSR but with 2 Decay rates and Level (quite like 2nd Sustain).
DETAILS die Tastatur sendet Velocitywerte werden nicht voll genutzt (nicht bis 127!) wodurch andere Synthesizer nicht voll bis zum dynamischen Maximum genutzt werden können, ansonsten ist sie gut. Zum DX7 allgemein: 16bit Wandler und 4 OP FM. es gibt 8 algorithmen wie die OP (Oszillatoren) verschaltet sind. fast lfo. jeder OP hat Velocity-steuerung. Hüllkurve: Attack mit 2 Decayphasen ( D1, D2 und Level) plus Release.

Yamaha wasn't the first synth maker but after the monsterous and heavywight CS80 the DX7 was a little revolution in sound (FM synthesis and much more realistic sounds) and sold very very well, later innovations like physical modeling did not even hit the sales of later FM synths like the SY99 or FS1R. Yamaha owns Steinberg and SCI (Sequential Circuits) and the Prophet name and had about 40% of Korg for a time.

THE MANUFACTURER
Yamaha war schon früh Musikinstrumentenhersteller, stieg aber erst 1974 mit einem Synthesizer ein, wirklich aufmerksam wurde man nach dem CS80 Monstersynthesizer vorallem durch den sehr gut verkauften DX7, dessen FM die Klänge der noch analogen Welt die Leute an "realistische Sounds" und irre dynamisch spielbar denken lies. Innovation gab es auch mit dem Physical Modelling Synthesizer VP1 und VL1, jedoch waren die kommerziell bei Weitem nicht so erfolgreich. Yamaha gehört heute auch Steinberg. Sie waren auch eine Zeit lang Eigner von Korg (40%) und hält den Namen Prophet / Sequential Circuits
