...aber ich bin der Meinung es hat sein eigenes Thread verdient:

Ein neues MIDI Interface für den Jupiter-4 kommt bald auf dem Markt. Es wird *voraussichtlich* nur 99,- EUR kosten! Der Entwickler, nämlich Laszlo Kovari scheint ein richtiges Genie zu sein, und ein echter Jupiter-4 Fan! Ich bin ja total gespannt!!

Feature list:
- Faithful emulation of the original Roland Jupiter 4 programmer chip
- Memory is expanded to 32 patches and internally stored in non-volatile memory
- MIDI In and Out connections
- All 16 sliders and 9 switches are sending and receiving MIDI control messages
- MIDI channel change from control panel (press MANUAL + PRESET switches)
- Modifying stored patches is now possible
- Sending and receiving MIDI Program Change messages
- Patch dump

Planned features:
- Firmware upgradable thru MIDI
- Patch copy
- Patch morph
- LFO on any parameter
- Randomize parameters
- Elektron TurboMidi compatibility (10 times faster MIDI communication)

The second board is a usual MIDI interface that has the following features:
- Polyphonic MIDI Note messages
- Pitch bend control
- VCF control
- Volume control
- Portamento control
- Arpeggio rate control
All these controls are parallel with the JP4 performance controls.

sehe ich auch so, hab heute Email bekommen von Laszlo, es kostet nur 99 / bzw. 199€ und finde das absolut superbillig für das was es kann. Sehr cooles Projekt, auf das wir lange gewartet haben.

Nachfrage zum Promars war (obs dort auch geht mit CC und so):

The Patch Programmer probably works with Promars as this part is equivalent with that of the JP4. You can simply try it as no modifications needed just remove the old Microprocessor and insert Io Patch Programmer instead of it.
The Keyboard Assigner board is a different story as Promars is monophonic and don't have this board at all.
A usual MIDI-CV converter would work here.

Nur mal für alle, die vielleicht einen voll steuerbaren CCbaren Promars wollen. Klar, der hat keinen Arpeggiator und keine Polyphonie, aber..

UPDATE: The boards are already in production and *should* be hitting the market within weeks! Many of the planned features have already been implemented.

This is an excerpt from the preliminary User Manual, posted here with Laszlo's permission:

1. Introduction

Io is a MIDI retrofit system for the Roland Jupiter 4 synthesizer. It consists of two boards that can be used either parallel or individually. One of the boards is the Keyboard Assigner Extension and it enables MIDI control over pitch note, pitch bend, cutoff frequency, volume and portamento. It also synchronizes the arpeggio to MIDI clock and has two powerful LFOs on pitch bend and cutoff frequency. LFO settings are storable and recallable. The other board is a complete replacement of the Jupiter's original patch programmer microprocessor with full MIDI specification and lots of functional enhancements.

2. Operation of the Patch Programmer

All the original functions of the Jupiter 4 programming are kept. The following functions are added:
- Stored patches can be edited.
- All programmable sliders and switches send and receive MIDI control change messages.
- Patch memory is expanded 4 times the original to 32 patches.
- MIDI Program Change messages are sent and received.
- MIDI channel can be changed by using combination of memory buttons.
- Patches can be copied from one memory place to an other.
- A so-called Second Page that enables control of the added LFOs and setting of velocity control.
- Firmware is upgradable thru MIDI.

Ja, aber das ist schon seit etlicher Zeit recht schwierig einen funktionierenden JP-4 zu finden. Der Markt ist wie leer gefegt. Ich kenne ein paar Leute die sofort einen JP-4 kaufen würden.
Die Kiste hat es endlich geschafft, in den Reigen der Vintage Klassiker aufgenommen zu werden.

Ja. Du hast recht. Die gute alte Zeiten von billiger JP-4s sind sowieso vorbei. Ich hätte so gern einen besseren, ohne löcher von der CV/GATE Modifizierung, oder kratzer auf dem "Compuphonic" Logo... und mit dem schönen 3-D Roland Logo auf der Rückseite (jemanden hat meine geklaut!! Kaum zu glauben!!) ...

...aber die sind für mich einfach zu teuer geworden.

Man muss heutzutage schon wirklich Einiges investieren. Ich bin einmal quer durch Deutschland gefahren und es hat sich wirklich gelohnt.
Den Jupp geb' ich nicht wieder her...und wenn ich mein ganzes Studio versetzen muss
Obwohl es mir nicht auf die Optik ankam ist meiner doch wirklich gut erhalten (vom Holzdekor mal abgesehen).

Ich hatte auch schon fast die CHD-Bestellung abgeschickt...nun harre ich der Dinge, die da kommen mögen

Nein, gibts nicht. Zumal sich auch nicht jeder dort melden und reg'en würde. , da kann man auch wenig Sinn darin sehen, öffentlich zu machen was man hat oder nicht hat und was genau.

Haha. Ich habe ihn noch -- einen OB-Xa. Kein schlechter Tausch -- aber ich brauche ihn noch. Er ist mein einziger Monster-poly der noch funktioniert. Mein Prophet-10 ist tot.

The melody and harmonic progressions are Jarre inspired (Maurice - Lara's Theme or Jean-Michel - Equinoxe) and thus quite French in character, but the accents definitely have a touch of Bavarian Brass music, which I confess I like very much!

mp4 with H264 is a good thing, google work a lot with this and apple set this as standard in mac OS X, that means: they already sped up the processing of H264 video. elgato offers Hardware acceleration for converting any format to H264. All Synthesizer-Magazin Videos (by myself) are encoded on the turbo.264 thing.
