Ableton eats Cycling ’74 (Max/MSP)

Zwischendurch: Ableton kauft Max/MSP (Cycling 74), damit ist die Grundlage gelegt, die beiden Produkte tatsächlich zusammen zu führen und nicht als zwei Produkte zu entwickeln. Das hat viele Vorteile für Ableton. Die Folgen für die klassischen Nutzer von Max/MSP muss man sehen, was es bringt und ob es langfristig eine solche Standalone-Version noch geben wird.

Und ein Vorteil den Bitwig gegenüber Ableton hatte, eine echte modulare Engine. Die kann Ableton langfristig mit dem Besitz auch umsetzen, wird aber bestimmt nicht übernacht klappen.

Ableton just aquired Max/MSP (Cycling ’74), so they can integrate it’s power and may consider to end the standalone version and merge those 2 product to one, which always felt a bit like „something wrong“. Those, who do use Max/MSP but don’t need live as a DAW may be subject to something? But Max is to Ableton what Bitwig has made already – a modular basis, which is a lot easier to handle and to script. So here’s the chance to change a lot.
