\nwell there is also the Poly Evolver Keyboard which has everything as KNOBS and 4 voices as the rack version. it has even 4 blue LEDs on the back to show the people: hey, it’s now voice 2 playing.. all here as knobs.. cool to handle.. atm it does not feature CC via midi but Sysex, some Parameters can be controlled via Midi CCs ..<\/p>\n

Dave says in the Video ,that the Evolver uses Curtis Chips again! I have NO Idea where to get that amount of Curtis Chips for the Filter, but he said this on a Video on sonicstate.com on Winter NAMM 2005 ,so we should believe it. Well, it’s obvious: A Number of Curtis Filter Chips were produced for Dave \/ Evolver Series!!..
\nunfortunately there is no 3 Octave Key Version, No Idea why the 4voices Poly Key is a 5 Ocatave Keyboard but it is great! It has everything that a good synth needs for tweaking! it’s around 2k\u20ac … Same functionality and cascade capability (add nother poly evo rack vor 8 voices..) AND: you still have 16steps Sequencer per Voice 4 times.. !! Quite a cool Feature!

has the prophet VS waves, lots of LFOs and ENVS, analogue filter, distortion, and (!!) a tunables trackable delay loop with feedback, so you can do noise „robotic“ and karplus-strong like sounds.. also internal 16step sequencer..<\/p>\n

very fat: the poly evolver, it is a hybrid: 2 analogue VCOs with sync and 2 DCOs with FM and ringmodulation and prophet VS like harmonic waveforms based on additive synthesis.<\/p>\n

you have 3 delays with feedback and a tracking delay feedback: this is the basis behind combs and PM algorithms! this synth can sound very rude,too.<\/p>\n

4 LFOs, 3 ENVs and 4 mod slots : almost EVERYTHING can be modulated!! you can set each of the delays, the filter spacing (it is a TRUE stereo synthesizer so you can sert the spacing on the filter ,too)more evolve<\/p>\n

the sequencer can control the VS waveforms of the digital OSCs, all matrix destinations and lots of things, and of course this synthesizer has a large variety of patching.. no old school synth, very moving sound..<\/p>\n

\ngibt interessante effekte in zusammenhang mit den delays,denn dieser synthesizer hat stereogewusel ohne ende und zwei echte signalwege..

der poly evolver ist eine echte 4stimmige version.. kann also auch 4stimmig oder alle darreichungsformen dazwischen haben!..
\nalso 2×2 oder 4x1stimmig etc.. das editieren des poly geht \u00fcber den evolver selber.. etwas ungew\u00f6hnlich .. aber so gibts dann gleich 5stimmen..<\/p>\n

keine wavetables,sondern waves,die additiv erstellt werden k\u00f6nnen aus dem VS und eigene (also SO WIE IM VS) und per sequencer moduliert (Also umgeschaltet) werden k\u00f6nnen! das ist also dann eine art wavetable-\u00e4hnlicher klang,der DANN entsteht,wie beim ms2000 zB,der ebenfalls soein feature hat).<\/p>\n

<\/a>Vieh-teaures Evolver und Poly Evolver
\n(der unterscheidet sich nur durch fehlende edit-m\u00f6glichkeit und 4fache polyphonie daf\u00fcr..:
\nder POly Evolver Keyboard hat hingegen eine sehr feine Steuerung mit einem Regler f\u00fcr fast jeden Parameter – er ist ebenfalls 4stimmig und kann mit einer der obigen um 1\/4 stimmen erweitert werden!

\n\u2022 96 Waves des legend\u00e4ren Prophet VS (klingen aber

Fr\u00fchimpressionen zum DSI Evolver

Ich erfuhr vom Evolver ganz zuf\u00e4llig in der RS7000 Mailing list, als jemand ganz unschuldig
\nfragte, ob dieser Monosynth gut zum RS passen w\u00fcrde…(nebenbei bemerkt, er tut…;). Kurzer<\/p>\n

Besuch auf www.davesmithinstruments.com…ein paar Demos angeh\u00f6rt…ein paar User Reviews gelesen auf sonicstate.com…und ganz spontan…in den USA bestellt. Mittlerweile ist der
\nEvolver aber auch bei Thomann.de und anderswo f\u00fcr 599 Euro, bzw. teuflische 666 Euro (zzt sinds 499\u20ac) k\u00e4uflich zu erwerben.
\nAber zur\u00fcck zu meiner Bestellung…die innerhalb k\u00fcrzester Zeit per UPS kam (Rechnung mit Original Unterschrift von Dave Smith!!! ;) h\u00e4tte er doch auch nur auf meinem E unterschrieben…hehe) …Karton ausgepackt, erstmal alles beschnuppert…gut riechen tut er ja…hehe…dann
\nerstmal Netzteil zusammengefummelt und das ganze angest\u00f6pselt…<\/p>\n

Netzteil, nebenbei bemerkt, ist 100 – 230 Volt Schaltznetzteil, und es liegen verschiedene
\nAdapter bei, mit denen auch ein Betrieb in anderen Gegenden dieses kleinen blauen Planeten ohne Schwierigkeiten m\u00f6glich sein sollte.<\/p>\n

Kommen wir zum Einge“machten“…
\nGeh\u00e4use sehr stabil und \u00e4u\u00dferst sauber verarbeitet, keine scharfen Kanten, die Beschriftung
\nabriebfest angebracht, die gerasterten 8 Endlosregler(mit Gummi\u00fcberzug…Schelm, wer b\u00f6ses dabei denkt… ), zwei Audio outs, zwei Audio-ins, beides 6,3 Klinke, Midi I\/O\/thru. Alles sehr stabil…aber…Kein Ein\/Ausschalter :(<\/p>\n

Das ganze ist in seinem nettem blau\/schwarzem Kleid etwa ein Drittel gr\u00f6\u00dfer als eine VHS Kassette (und sehr schwer f\u00fcr die Gr\u00f6\u00dfe…wenn man sich mal verteidigen mu\u00df…:))) anmerkung moogulator: weiss noch jemand, was eine VHS KAssette ist? das sind 2 10er PAckungen DVDs nebeneinander.. oder so) ;)<\/p>\n

Dann, nach ein wenig herumspielen, mein erster Eindruck der Bedienung: gew\u00f6hnungsbed\u00fcrftig aber logisch und schnell erlernbar. Das 3 Character LED ist allerdings eine Herausforderung. (Viele K\u00fcrzel zu lernen…sind auch meist logisch…FiL…klar Filter…OAF Oscillator All Frequency…noL Noise Level…EiP External Audio Input Peak etc. pp…man lernt es relativ schnell, sofern man mit Substraktiver Klangsynthese vertraut ist.
\nAber wer ist sie eigentlich nun, diese Evolver… …ist ein monophoner analoger\/digitaler Hybrid Synthesizer mit eingebautem analogem Step Sequencer. Hybrid deswegen, weil der E zwei real analoge und zwei digitale Oszillatoren besitzt, die durch je Kanal getrennte 2\/4 Pole echte analoge Filter geschickt wird.
\nUnd wie klingt<\/strong> es denn nun… …genial! Warm, fett, gemischt mit digitaler K\u00fchle, aber nie schneidend digital kalt wie ein DX oder k\u00fchl Nord-isch, sondern gez\u00e4hmt dank des analogen Filter (2\/4 pole) hat man immer warme Ohren.<\/p>\n

Die freie Zuordnung der 4 + 16 Step Sequenzen, die vier LFO\u00b4s, die zwei analogen, sowie zwei digitalen Oszillatoren (mit den originalen aber soundtechnisch optimierten „Waveshapes“ des Prophet VS…man kann sogar eigene Wellenformen (anmerkung moogulator: ja,wellenformen,keine wavetables!! diese sind basiert auf additiver synthese via editor zu erstellen) per Sysex uploaden in den E…) erm\u00f6glicht es Sequenzen und Sounds zu basteln, die dem Namen Evolver alle Ehre machen….<entwickel> Der Klang ist so gut…eigentlich sollte das Ding „Revolver“ hei\u00dfen…<\/p>\n

Und dann gibt\u00b4s so nette Sachen wie.. … Oszi 2 hat etwas, was sich „Osc Slop“ nennt…da die vier Ozi\u00b4s sehr genau sind, kann man mit Hilfe dieses „Osc slope“ eine zufallsgesteuerte ungenaue Pr\u00e4zisions Frequenz Drift einstellen. ;) Default ist 0 – 5…aber f\u00fcr mehr Drift kann man einen „random“ LFO oder White Noise mod benutzen. Geil, oder?
\nSolche kleinen Nettigkeiten gibt es noch mehr im E…und versetzten einen damit immer wieder in fragendes Erstaunen, ob man denn nun wirklich NUR einen monophonen Synth vor sich hat. Auf jeden Fall ein Synthesizer beim dem mal jemand (HA…Dave SMith) endlich genau nachgedacht hat und einen klar struktierten aber auch sehr komplexen und tiefen Synth gebaut hat, der auch von Software nicht so ohne weiteres einzuholen sein wird. Ein Musikinstrument mit ebensoviel Pers\u00f6nlichkeit und Charme wie eine Stradivari oder Les Paul! (anmerkung f\u00fcr meine leser: das ist son katzendarm teil, hat aber nix mit musik zu tun,eher mit gitarre g<\/em> ende anmerkung moogulator)<\/p>\n

Ob man den Klang mit anderen Synths vergleichenkann…man kann schon aber am ehesten mit einem Prophet VS…lat\u00fcrnich! Trotzdem klingt der Evolver sehr eigenst\u00e4ndig und der wirklich einzige Nachteil ist, da\u00df man nicht aufh\u00f6ren kann, dran rumzuschrauben… Ich will nicht weiter viele Worte machen…wer einen analogen\/digitalen Hybrid-Monosynth mit sehr viel Charakter und gro\u00dfartigem Klang f\u00fcr wenig Geld will…kaufen!
