Golden-Moon
Ambient...to the sky and back

Some observations:
It's unmistakably an 808. It sounds like every 80s record to ever feature one. The clap is there, the rim shot is there, the cowbell is there, the hats are bright and piercing, bass goes boom boom. It's all there. Any differences to an original are splitting hairs, personally. Consider this a MK2 rather than a straight copy and you wont be disappointed one iota.
Klingt ganz gut
Some observations:
- Mostly plastic rather than metal, but it's still very robust
- Leagues better than the Tr-8. There's no contest. It feels far more "alive" than the Tr-8. It's also a damn sight easier to use.
- The Rim Shot is comically loud, but the Claves are level with everything else
- Yes, the bass drum does, indeed, go boooooooooom (skip to 3:30 in the demo)
- Adding steps without the record button engaged basically makes them one shot, which is a nice little feature
- "Wave Designer" = rudimentary compressor. Stick it on the snare and clap and watch the magic happen
- Dials have inconsistent feel, as do the buttons
- It's a chunky thing. Make sure you have space for it.
- Probability is weirdly addictive
- I get why they used the silicone buttons (to save cost) but it does take away from the otherwise very swish and premium look of the machine
- Leave all the new tone and offset controls at the indicated orange dot on the dial to get OG tuning and tone, which is actually where it sounds best.
- Clap does that weird thing that some OG 808s do where the tail of the clap goes missing until the circuit charges properly, which is insane attention to detail.
