V-Synth Version 1.51 Updating Procedures (Works for 2.0 on the mac)
*Note:Updating the operating system will cause the internal sounds to revert back
to original factory settings. Before performing the system update, please backup
the Internal Memory of the V-Synth to a PC card or to a computer via USB.
How to backup data
(A) Backup to the computer's hard disk.
1. By following the instructions in the Owner's Manual of the V-Synth (p90
"Connecting to Your Computer via USB"), connect the V-Synth and the
computer with a USB cable.
2. Select "Internal" in the "USB Storage" screen.
The Internal Memory of the V-Synth will appear on the computer's screen as
a drive.
3. By operating the computer, copy all files and folders in the V-Synth
drive to the computer's drive (such as the hard disk).
4. After finishing the copying process, eject the V-Synth drive by operating
the computer.
5. Disconnect the USB cable from the V-Synth.
(B) Backup to a PC card
In order to save to a PC card, follow the instructions on
p85 of the Owner's Manual ("Saving Project on Disk").
*Note that due to revisions of the Owner's Manual, the actual
page numbers may be different.
*System Requirements
Windows : Microsoft Windows 98 or later.(For Windows 98SE/98, USB Storage Driver
must be pre-installed.)
Macintosh: Mac OS 9.04 or later.

a. V-Synth.rom - V-Synth Version 1.51 update program data.
b. V-SynthDiskImage.bin - Sound data for V-Synth Version 1.51.
Updating Procedures
(1) While holding down the "PATCH PALLETE [1]" button, turn on the power of the
V-Synth.
(2) "*** Program Updater ***" will appear on the screen.
(3) Press "PATCH PALLETE [2]" button to select "[2] Update by USB Mass Storage".
(4) Connect the V-Synth to PC or Macintosh with USB cable.
(5) Mount the V-Synth to the computer as removable disk.
For Windows
- Compatible OS: Windows 98 or later
*For Windows 98SE/98, the USB Storage Driver must be pre-installed.
- When USB connection is ready, the driver installation will begin. You will find
"Found New Hardware" message near the Windows's Task Tray.
*The driver installation will be proceeded automatically. Please wait a few
moment until the installation is completed.
- After the installation is completed, a new icon
for the drive will appear when you open "My Computer".
*For Windows XP, "V-Synth" will appear as a drive icon. For Windows 2000/
Me/98SE/98, "Removable Disk" will appear as a drive icon.
For Macintosh
- Compatible OS: Mac OS 9.0.4 or later
- "V-Synth" drive icon image will appear on the desktop when USB connection is ready.
(6) Copy data to the V-Synth drive.
For Windows
*When you find "Accessing..." message on the V-Synth LCD screen , DO NOT execute
the following;
a. Disconnect the USB cable.
b. Suspend (Stand By), Hybernation, Restart, Shut Down of the computer.
c. Turn off the power of the V-Synth.
- Copy "V-Synth.rom" and "V-SynthDiskImage.bin" into the V-Synth drive icon
(or into the "Removable Disk") by drag and drop.
* Wait until the "Accessing..." message disappears.
- Disconnect the V-Synth by right clicking the V-Synth drive icon
(or the Removable Disk) and selecting "Eject".
For Macintosh
*When you find "Accessing..." message on the V-Synth LCD screen, DO NOT execute
the following;
a. Disconnect the USB cable.
b. Suspend (Stand By), Hybernation, Restart, Shut Down of the computer.
c. Turn off the power of the V-Synth.
- Copy "V-Synth.rom" and "V-SynthDiskImage.bin" into the
V-Synth drive by drag and drop.
* Wait until the "Accessing..." message disappears.
- Disconnect the V-Synth by clicking the V-Synth drive icon and selecting "Eject" from
the "Special" menu, or dragging and dropping the V-Synth drive icon into "Trash".
For Mac OS X, select "Eject" from the "File" menu, or drag and drop the V-Synth drive
icon into "Trash".
(7) Disconnect the USB cable.
(8) Press "PATCH PALETTE [8]" to execute the update.
(9) The update will be completed when "Complete! Please Power Off." message appears
on the screen with beep sounds.
(10) Check the Version Number of the V-Synth.
- In the Patch Mode screen, touch the bottom arrow which is located on the top
right of the screen.
- Touch "Info" in the Pull-down menu, and Version Number of the V-Synth can
be identified on the top left of the screen (Ver. *.** will appear).
(11) Finally, if you have saved V-Synth's Project data (Internal.prj), load the
data into the V-Synth.
If you have saved the Project data on to a computer's hard disk in USB Storage
Mode, make the same connection as you have when saving the Project data, and
copy the data into the V-Synth drive or into the "Removable Disk" from the
hard disk.
If you have saved the Project data on to a PC card, after loading the Project
data from the PC card (Owner's Manual p84), save the Project to Internal (Int)
(Owner's Manual p85).
