ABOUT Don Buchla is "the other" Synthesizer Pioneer beside Moog, he did a lot of very innovative instruments and there is still the Buchla 200e .. The Music Easel is no toy..
ABOUT Don Buchla war "der andere Pionier". Neben Bob Moog hat er sehr kreative Synthesizer gebaut, sie sind jedoch alle sehr selten und vorallem hier in Deutschland.. sein 200e kann man immernoch (schonwieder) kaufen.. Der Music Easel sieht etwas Spielzeug-mäßig aus, ist aber ein interessantes kleines Modularsystem.

DETAILS Buchla Music Easel uses banana jacks (!).. they are "stackable".. and the music easel had something like storable patches (well, not EVERYTHING but some parameters!!) quite new on a synth (of that time and still on patchable systems very rare.. exept the 200e). Memory: Cards (special ones of course.) - Spring Reverb. strange resistor networks for storage.. CV-envelope. __ Don Buchla also made the Oberheim Ob-MX when Tom Oberheim left Oberheim (!) His Buchla Box 200e is a very big digital memory modular system with multi-staage envelopes and sequencers, complex control and very high price, but Buchla did a lot of very visionary/innovative synths in the same time when moog did his more popular and more known synths, buchla is a bit unconventional, even in 1982 he had programmable "controllers" like todays sequencers in software in a box. (the mid phase of his modular series), means: see/draw in your envelope.. well, not that easy those days but very new.. Buchla has a new system out, a modular system with RAM, digital analog hybrid. Don Buchla was also responsible for the "oberm00g" OB-MX synth by Oberheim (Tom Oberheim wasn't Toms company at that time..
DETAILS Der Music Easel ist ein kleiner Modularer mit 5step Sequencer und besteht eigentlich aus Modulen aus der 200er Serie (208).. es gab teilweise sogar speicherbarkeit/programmierbarkeit. 32 sensor tasten. Speicherung: auf Karten. Hallspirale. seltsames widerstandsgeflecht zum speichern.. CV Hüllkurve.

Don Buchla was one of those early pioneers of electronic music and synths makers. his philosophy of "the west coast" was different from that of Moog and much more related to performing art like Morton Subotnick. His success wasn't at the same level as moogs but almost the same time and a little bit earlier with very innovative synths design.
