Terratec Komplexer (Waldorf Largo / Blofeld - Softsynth-Vorgänger) - noch lauffähig?

Von Terratec gab es doch ein Keyboard mit diesen 8 Reglern, und sollte man den Komplexer nicht auch mal als Steckkarte kaufen können?

Na ja, Stenz ist ja wieder bei Waldorf am Coden, von daher ist wohl fertig mit Komplexer.

Wenn die Patches nicht greifen, hilft afaik nur 'ne Version die ohne Kopierschutz laeuft, bzw. der Kopierschutz entfernt wurde.

PC unter WinXP + Mehrkern Prozessor? Falls dem so ist, kannst du ja mal testweise zu deiner boot.ini /numproc=1 hinzufügen. Also so dort z.B.:

Ist, wenn du denn einen PC hast, zumindest eine Möglichkeit mal zu testen ob es so ginge. Also vielleicht den Komplexer erst deinstallieren, dann den (nur den farblich markierten) Eintrag in der boot.ini machen, dann den Rechner neu starten und danach nochmal installieren und schauen ob es geht. Mach aber vorher mal lieber ein Image von deiner Systempartition, denn falls aus irgendwelchen Gründen nachher nix mehr geht..

Ist jetzt nur eine Möglichkeit herauszufinden ob es, eventuell, ein Dual/Single-Core Problem ist und ob es klappt kann ich dir nicht sagen da ich Komplexer nicht habe. Einen Versuch ist es ja zumindest wert. Eine schnellere und einfachere Möglichkeit um mal eben zu testen ob es mit einem Kern laufen würde kenne ich nicht. Vielleicht reicht es auch dem Installer, während der Installation nur einen Kern im Task-Manager zuzuweisen. Probiere es aus.

Von irgendeiner gepatchten exe/dll aus den Netz, welche ohne den Kopierschutz läuft, würde ich abraten, da du dir nie sicher sein kannst was du da dann letztendlich auf deinem Rechner ausführst. Im Vordergrund macht das Teil dann was es soll und im Hintergrund etwas ganz anderes. Versuche es lieber erst einmal so wie von mir oben beschrieben.

Wichtig:

1. Das funzt nicht unter 64bit, also ggf. ne DOSBOX missbrauchen.
2. WTMAKER.EXE muss im selben Verzeichnis sein wie die zu wandelnde *.WAV - Datei.
3. Das derzeit einzig akzeptierte Format ist WAV, 16Bit, 44.1kHz,mono, Länge mindestens 8448 Samples.
4. Die zu analysierende *.WAV - Datei selber muss in "input.wav" umbenannt werden.
5. Bedienung: input.wav in den Ordner des WTMAKER schieben und Doppelklick auf WTMAKER.EXE (ja, das kann man noch ändern)

Als Ausgabe erhält man nach einigen Sekunden die Datei "userwt.wt". Die kann man sich dann umbenennen oder direkt in den Komplexer als Wavetable importieren. Und so klingt die Phrase "FDSP" aus dem Komplexer: http://home.arcor.de/blacktomcat666/allg/fdsp.WAV

Resynthese a la Acxel darf man hier aber nicht erwarten, die vorgegebenen Begrenzungen und die eingebaute Interpolation des Komplexer machen z.Bsp. Drumloops zu Grütze.

Ich hab zwar keine Ahnung, ob das
a) außer mir noch jemand braucht und
b) das x-te Tool ist, was *.WAV in Komplexer - Wavetables umwandelt.

Trotzdem möchte ich es mal zur Verfügung stellen. Bei entsprechender Resonanz würde ich dass Ding mal zu nem "richtigen" und optimierten Programm + Doku ausbauen, ähnlich dem hier:

Schöne Sache jedenfalls. Gab auch von unserm Swissdoc mal nen Sprachprogramm Robot oder so fürn ST, das das für Sprachkrams machte. Mit Largo wäre das noch cooler. Komisch, dass Waldorf das nicht selbst hinbekommen. Oder?

Ja, das Programm, das Klangbeispiel und der Screenshot sind von mir. WTMAKER selbst hat mich gestern nur ca. 2 Stunden gekostet, weil ich für den Komplexer mal eine Wavetable brauchte. Aber im Moment ist das ja quasi nur ein besseres Batchfile (siehe meine Hinweise im Eröffnungspost). Quick & Dirty halt...

Der Screenshot ist nun leider nicht der WTMAKER sondern eine andere Software von mir, die aber eigentlich dasselbe macht. Nur bietet die derzeit nur 24 Harmonische in einer 128 Wavetable, der Komplexer beispielsweise arbeitet mit 64 Harmonischen in 33 Wavetables, wie ich gestern herausfand. Screenshot nur deshalb, damit man mal ne Idee hat, wie es aussehen könnte.

Das zweite "Problem": die Software vom Screenshot ist unter Turbo C 3.0 (alle Programmierer lachen jetzt... ) geschrieben und läuft auf einem eigenen DOS - Rechner mit SB16 und Mouse- bzw ab nächster Woche Lightpensteuerung. War eigentlich dazu gedacht, meinen ASR10 zu füttern, den ich leider dank ewiger Arbeitslosigkeit verkaufen musste. Jetzt füttert er per Netzwerkanbindung den Rechner, auf dem hier die VSTs laufen. Das doofe ist nur, dass die olle Borland Grafik auf heutigen PCs oft nicht mehr funktioniert. Gleiches gilt für 16 Bit Programme. Man müsste das in einer zeitgemäßen Umgebung implementieren, damit die breite Masse was damit Anfangen kann. Oder halt DOSBOX, das geht natürlich auch. Oder man stellt sich wie ich ne eigene DOS Kiste hin, aber wer ist ausser mir schon so verrückt.

Wenn WTMAKER wirklich auf Interesse stößt, setze ich mich nochmal dran, um wenigstens erst mal die Bedienbarkeit zu verbessern. Momentan arbeite ich aber gerade an einem Morphingtool. Klangbeispiel:

Hi, I´m very happy to see this! I recently bought an Ensoniq TS10 to use it as a wavetable synth, and load my own wavetables. I´ve been using various vintage programs to do this, but at the moment I couldn´t dedicate the time to transfer them to the synth.
But I´ve been dreaming with a program like this, dedicated exclusively to wavetable creation. I couldn´t test it because I´m on vacations and don´t have my dos pcs here... but as soon as I get into my studio I´ll try it. Of course it would be great if you could make it work on windows xp.
The great thing about transwaves is that they can use full cycle waves, instead of half-cycle and then the other half reversed and inverted. You can do true pwm without UPAWs. Also, each wave can be much more longer that the 64 samples of ppg/waldorf´s half cycle. And they can be 16bit. And Ensoniq synths generally have greater polyphony. Anyway, I love my Waldorfs, and the sound is very different, even though they´re in the same category.
It would be cool if this thread turns to English to include the rest of us! google translator is not THAT good...

Hi! I´m very interested in all this! I recently bought an Ensoniq TS10 to use it as a wavetable synth, and to import my own transwaves. Transwaves have some advantages over PPG/Waldorf wavetables, they can have full cycle waves instead of half a wave and then the other half reversed and inverted, they can be 100 cycle long instead of 64, they can be 16bit, each wave cycle can be of any lenght (all waves must be the same lenght within the wavetable, but each wavetable can have all of it´s waves of any lenght), Ensoniq synths/samplers usually have more polyphony, transwaves can be multisampled, you can have different wavetables on different oscillators, etc. Waldorfs also have their advantages, of course, I have two of them.
Anyway, there´s any chance to have the transwave soft that you mention??? please, please, please, please... also the name Trans-wave-term is pure genious, as well as it´s graphic design.
As long as I get into my studio (I´m on vacations now) I´ll try WTMAKER on my DOS machine. is the output file a raw waveform file which I may translate to wav?
Sadly I can´t fully understand what google translator outputs, specially the part about a vst version????
Win XP versions of these programs would be really cool, even though I´m a DOS man. (and Sequencer Plus fan)

A new version of WTMAKER is available. Now you can drag and drop a sound file ( WAV , 16 BIT, 44,1 kHz, Mono, >0.5s) onto WTMAKER.EXE. The program writes a Komplexer wavetable file, which has the same name as the input file. For example: Type "WTMAKER electro.wav" or drop the WAV directly, and the result will be electro.wt .

@juno6: WTMAKER builds only spectral files for the Terratec Komplexer. For Transwaves:

1. Download and install DOSBOX v0.72 (version number must be 0.72!) http://sourceforge.net/projects/dosbox/files/dosbox/
2. Download Trans - Wave - Term: http://home.arcor.de/blacktomcat666/allg/twt_demo.zip
3. Unzip to C:\ (it must be C:\ or you have to edit my DOSBOX configuration file)
4. Copy dosbox.conf from C:\twt_demo into your DOSBOX directory and overwrite the existing file.

Let me add that Trans- Wave - Term was intended for my personal use and it isn't finished yet. For example, the interpolation function must corrected. Further plans include 64 Harmonics for better quality, which means I have to rewrite large parts of the software and this will take some time. So don't expect an Axcel Resynthesizer, expect a kind of Kawai K5 with simple sample import (same format as WTMAKER, see above).

I was able to make it run on my laptop with Vista 32bit. I have to say it´s the program of my dreams! I´ve always loved PPGs, so working on a UI like this is ultra-cool. The way it shows the wavetable in various ways, and the posibilities of manipulation... is all unbelievable.
I have used various wavetable creation programs in the past, Sounddiver, Soundtower, and various freeware programs for Microwave XT, PC and MW1, and tranzilon, plus others not especifically designed for wavetable creation, for the TS10, but yours is the one I enjoyed more. I couldn´t try it on the TS10 itself yet, as I´m on vacations, but I´ll do that in a week or so.
I still have to fully learn it, but up to now I have a couple of questions and suggestions:

About the slices, AFAIK the Ensoniq samplers can manage 100 or 128 slices max, is that right? the mod index is 100, but I´m not sure if that´s a percentage or the exact number of max slices... is it posible to use the other two output options (interpolate and loop opt), with so many slices on an Ensoniq???

The file name says it´s a demo, there are any restrictions??

Suggestion:

If the number of samples per cycles could be selectable, it´d be easy to make multisamples of each wavetable. I´ve found that on some Ensoniq synths, MR Rack for example, some transwaves are multi-sampled, and they have better lows and highs, as transposition doesn´t affect the timbre much. On one of my favourite synth/samplers, the Korg DSS1, every time you generate a waveform by drawing it with a slider or by additive synthesis, it generate a full multisample with eight samples across the keyboard. It just generates the same waveform but with different samples per cycle. That makes it sound full on all keyboard ranges.

Ich hatte die Miditastatur Terrateq Area 61 mit Komplexer gekauft und leider nun die Seriennummer
des Komplexer verloren.
Kann mir jemand vielleicht mitteilen, ob der für die Installation benötigte PIN auf der Papier - CD- Hülle war oder
auf einer separaten Karte ( dann besteht noch Hoffnung, die CD-Hülle habe ich wohl achtlos weggeworfen )

Es gibt da aber einen Workaround, der deshalb funktioniert, weil ich vom Programmieren so gut wie gar keine Ahnung hab: Komplex - Term legt einen Unterordner namens "temp" an, in den er neben den UNDO - Dateien jeweils den Klang, der mit "Prelis" bzw "Audit" abgespielt werden kann, als "Audit.wav" rendert. Die Datei wird normalerweise beim Programmende gelöscht, aber solange sie nicht abgespielt wird, kann man sie sich auch kopieren.

Dazu noch ein Hinweis: Diese "Audit.wav" kann in der Länge verändert werden, und zwar über die [+/- PSTRTCH] - Buttons auf der Startseite. Damit wird der Parameter "Playback Stretch Factor" gesteuert.

Harte Übergänge sind hier (im Gegensatz zu der alten Transwave Term - Software) nicht möglich, das Ding emuliert ja den Wavetableoszillator vom Komplexer und der interpoliert grundsätzlich immer. Na ja, dafür läuft er ohne DOSBOX. :)

Änderbare Fenstergröße geht da leider nicht, das ist eine fest skalierte BGI Oberflache (nennt sich WINBGIM) und hat nix mit Windows selber zu tun. Scrollen o.ä. gibts da auch nicht. Da ich mich mit Windowsprogrammierung nicht auskenne, muss das Ding leider erst mal so in den Maßen 1024x768 bleiben. Bedienung mit einem Grafiktablett kann ich nicht testen - anders als beim Transwaveterm, der bei mir mit einem Lichtgriffel direkt unter DOS läuft, ist das hier keine hardwareorientierte Geschichte. Aber es sollte eigentlich gehen, Maus geht ja auch.
