ABOUT the big modular system from ARP was freely configuarable, but mostly it had the configuration shown here.. a 4-voice keyboard was available, but I doubt that many customers used it for the very large of modules needed (well module 1045 contained a whole voice!), 10step Sequencer. special routing bus (20 on top and bottom) , so the users needs almost no or only a few patch cords.
ABOUT Das große modulare System von ARP, es bestand aus frei konfigurierbaren Modulen, es konnte also erweitert werden, es gab auch Seitenkabinette. Grundsätzlich gab es sogar ein 4-Voice Keyboard, was aber nur wenige wirklich benutzt haben werden aufgrund der großen Modulschlacht, die für Polyphonie nötig wäre. Aber: es gab Modul 1045 (eine komplette Stimme). 10step Sequencer. Spezielles Bus-System, was die meisten Kabel spart: oben und unten je 20.

DETAILS very special feature "keyboard percussion" and a decaying self resonating filter feature, the resonator filter module has 1pole BPF or 2pole HPF,LPF modes. the Filter can be set to very large Q-range (reso is also CV'able), another filter provides 4pole lpf (of course.). sample + hold module allows random triggers and more, well in fact it is 2 s+h's in one. even the random module is not "normal", it allows "slow" random also, the OSCs allow LO and HI mode (split at about 31Hz). OSC-Range: 20 Octaves (!), one quad and one dual env module available. VCA: lin/exp btw: there was a 3rd-party digital sequencer, but it was one of it's kind made by David McLey.. modul 1045 contains a complete voice VCO,VCF,VCA.
DETAILS resonator erlaubt 1pol BPF oder 2pol-HPF,LPF - Hauptfilter hat eine Selbstoszillation mit "Verfallsdatum", die man als "keyboard percussion" für knacksende klänge einsetzen kann, das hauptfilter kann in der Filtergüte stark variiert werden. natürlich gibt es auch einen 4pol Filter. sample + hold modul erlaubt zufalls trigger und besteht eigentlich aus 2 s+h.. selbst der rauschgenerator ist nicht "normal" und kann auch langsamen Zufall erzeugen. Die OSCs haben einen LO und HI mode (etwa bei 31Hz). OSC-Spanne: 20 Oktaven (!), es gibt ein dual und quad envelope modul. VCA: lin/exp. es gab einen digitalen sequencer (vom Drittanbieter David McLey), ist aber ein Unikat! modul 1045 enthält eine stimme: VCO,VCF,VCA
DETAILS
SOUND cool thing to start with, when you plan a modular system, but also very big in sound, more neutral than moog. Basses and Percussion is just a fraction of what it can do.. it is even possible to create clicky crackling sounds (see movie..)
SOUND sehr breiter guter Klang, fett und breit und neutraler als zB Moog. Fette Sounds sind kein Problem für ihn, oder als Start ins Modulare Leben.. tolle knackige Sounds möglich.. (siehe filmchen)..

VERSION there are other module configurations available (there WERE!), there is one main frame and a half wing frame.

IMAGEARP known or written as Alan R. Pearlman formerly Tonus Inc.
The second best known synth company in the early 70ies. Alan R.Pearlman founded the Tonus Inc in the US and later changed to ARP. they where the big ones beside Moog until the polyphonic synths came. the Odyssey and ARP2600 were a good addition to the Moogs and sounded less "typical moog". After the hard struggle making a guitar synth (the avatar sold about 300 times) they changed to a very innovative new synth, the Chroma but closed their doors in the early/mid 80ies and sold it to CBS (which was sold to Rhodes/Fender).
