ABOUT a double dx7, no more or less but not as succesible becauser it wasn't cheap. the digital classic FM synthesizer, the real breakthru for Yamaha. at that time it had more dynamics (velocity controlled fm) than analog sounds and much more "realistic"..
ABOUT Doppelversion des Klassikers DX7 war DER Durchbruch für Yamaha mit der FM-Synthese (Frequenzmodulation), in der erstmals und für damals deutlich weniger Geld wirklich "echter"klingende Sounds möglich waren. FM und Dynamik, die man von den Analogen nicht kannte. Der DX5 war eher rar weil damals doch recht teuer.

DETAILS Keyboard does not send full velocity (max is not 127), so it will not cover all synths dynamics. remote midi gear might sound "weak" when controlled from the DX7. 12bit DACs and 6 OP FM. 32 algorithms how the OPs (OSCs) are routed. fast lfo. all OPs have velocity control.
DETAILS die Tastatur sendet Velocitywerte werden nicht voll genutzt (nicht bis 127!) wodurch andere Synthesizer nicht voll bis zum dynamischen Maximum genutzt werden können, ansonsten ist sie gut. Zum DX7 allgemein: 12bit Wandler und 6 OP FM. es gibt 32 algorithmen wie die OP (Oszillatoren) verschaltet sind. fast lfo. jeder OP hat Velocity-steuerung.

VERSION well, the DX5 has only the DX1 as an "alternative" . lots of "versions" of 6 OP FM Synths , the DX series and lots more (racks and keys) and those with DX7 successors like DX7II, DX7IIFD, DX7s etc. some expansions (3rd party) like grey matter response e! expanded its memory, more multi features etc.
VERSION zum DX5 gibts nur den DX1 als "alternative".. allein vom DX7 gab es Nachfolger: DX7II, DX7IIFD, DX7s und sehr viele Varianten mit 6 OP FM (DX Serie etc.). es gab einige Erweiterungen wie e! von grey matter response für mehr sounds, splitbarkeit und mehr..

Yamaha wasn't the first synth maker but after the monsterous and heavywight CS80 the DX7 was a little revolution in sound (FM synthesis and much more realistic sounds) and sold very very well, later innovations like physical modeling did not even hit the sales of later FM synths like the SY99 or FS1R. Yamaha owns Steinberg and SCI (Sequential Circuits) and the Prophet name and had about 40% of Korg for a time.

THE MANUFACTURER
Yamaha war schon früh Musikinstrumentenhersteller, stieg aber erst 1974 mit einem Synthesizer ein, wirklich aufmerksam wurde man nach dem CS80 Monstersynthesizer vorallem durch den sehr gut verkauften DX7, dessen FM die Klänge der noch analogen Welt die Leute an "realistische Sounds" und irre dynamisch spielbar denken lies. Innovation gab es auch mit dem Physical Modelling Synthesizer VP1 und VL1, jedoch waren die kommerziell bei Weitem nicht so erfolgreich. Yamaha gehört heute auch Steinberg. Sie waren auch eine Zeit lang Eigner von Korg (40%) und hält den Namen Prophet / Sequential Circuits
