Little Phatty overload also on Voyager?

Hey Tom, long time no see. Nope, the result wouldn't be the same for me. You'd never be able to make a patch that greatly depends on a subtle overdrive setting, store it, recall it, and get the same great results. Too many depencencies, like send levels in the mixer, fx gear, you...

Little Phatty overload also on Voyager?

One of the biggest reasons why I would get a Voyager or LP is the patch memory, yes. I have a modular synth here, so I'm used to synths with just a single patch memory, heh. But being able to store a nice patch and recall it later is nice for sounds I'd use on a regular basis, or for storing...

Little Phatty overload also on Voyager?

Sounds almost simple, heh. But no patch memories of course. The filter OD on an old Minimoog, how to create that? Using the extra cable? Or is it 'built-in' already?

Wow! That looks like a LOT of fun! A wall of synths.... omg.

    I understand. Sounds like a lot of fun. Life's a bitch, ain't it? ;)

Little Phatty overload also on Voyager?

Yes, and that what I expected from the Voyager as well. That would allow one to program the OD amount into the patch. No idea to what amount this is possible on the Voyager (if at all), and how it sounds. It's different from the LP, that's clear now, gee...

Little Phatty overload also on Voyager?

Stefan!! :D That's bad news really. I love the OD feature and assumed the Voyager would be able to produce that too. Hmmm... Thanks for the sound demos, very nice and clear. When dialing in the overdrive, do you only get a few steps or is there a wide range of OD colouring available on...

Little Phatty overload also on Voyager?

Thanks for the quick response guys. So to be very clear: there's no way to get this overloaded sound on a Voyager without using an extra cable? You cannot get overdrive using the front panel alone?

Little Phatty overload also on Voyager?

Hi guys, when watching the LP video demo from Moog on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gQqaBn4MGY) there's a part around 3:30 where the filter is demonstrated with resonance and overload enabled. I just love that overloaded sound! My question is this: does the Voyager do this...

Did any of you compare Kyma and MetaSynth? I had a quick glance on the MetaSynth site, but I get the impression they still have a long way to go to reach the level of Kyma. No?

Analoge Polysynths - welche haben die schnellsten Envs?

Oh I'd like that! But I'm probably too far away indeed. I'm in Holland, near the German border though, close to Arnhem. But no car (I preferred to have synths).

Analoge Polysynths - welche haben die schnellsten Envs?

Got it! Wowie, that's a nice module! I love super fast LFOs, audio range, that's where the fun is most of the time. Nice mp3s, heh.

Analoge Polysynths - welche haben die schnellsten Envs?

Nice... That won't be a problem, heh. I really liked the SEM filter in the Andro, and I've enough filter modules here to route the Semtex through something else. I wonder what it is in the Semtex that makes it cleaner. Could be the better components in general, could be the OSCs.

Analoge Polysynths - welche haben die schnellsten Envs?

Ah, good. :) Of course I now the review, very nice! So you are *that* Jörg. Can the Semtex be used in that upright position as shown in the review? Or are the jacks too tight and will it tumble while inserting/removing patch cables? Very, very nice synth. I had forgotten it also...

Analoge Polysynths - welche haben die schnellsten Envs?

You lucky bastard! The Semtex looks very interesting, love the semi modular approach and the snappy EGs. The filter sounds great of course. Not sure though about the OSCs. In those SEM vs Semtex demo mp3s, the Semtex OSCs sounded really thin when compared with the real thing. I know...

Analoge Polysynths - welche haben die schnellsten Envs?

I had to conclude the Andro was not for me. It sounds lovely for a poly, and having 16 mono synths available in a single box is quite impressive. But I wanted a more powerful sound, faster LFOs and better EGs. I really liked filter #1 (SEM), but the Moog style filter couldn't impress me. The big...

Yes I know, so did I a year ago. ;) Features are fine yes, it's the price. And it's not easy to score a secondhand system, since I don't trust ebay sales. Having fun, yes? ;)

    MOTM-190 µVCA

I've got two '485 modules, one of them still has to be built. I also have the '480 CS80 filter. :P Both very nice, but quite different. The '485 in HP mode is totally nuts. :)

Symbolic Sound Kyma , Capybara, Paca/Pacarana, Umgang und Meinungen

I agree, and it's not about being able to sell the Kyma afterwards. But I'd just feel bad if I would get the Kyma right now for lots of $$$$ (and I can only do this right now, I'm not rich or anything), and within the year the system would be completely overhauled. I don't know, it wouldn't feel...

Symbolic Sound Kyma , Capybara, Paca/Pacarana, Umgang und Meinungen

That would be cool. But it's no guarantee of course, and it involves more investments, extra shipping, and another round of tax and customs (they're in the US, I'm in Europe). If I KNEW right now that it would take at least, say, 2 years before the new hardware would be introduced, maybe I'd go...

    MOTM-190 µVCA

Right, you won't get the AM part that way. I'm not really into RM, dunno why. I like sound freaking, but RM is not something I automatically end up with. I'll make a demo when the system is powered again, and let you guys be the judge.
  28. MonoRob

    MOTM-190 µVCA

Yes, I own the '190 module, it's my main VCA. I don't use the RM feature much, but when I did I got very nice results. However, I'm not familiar with the CS80 RM output, so I can't compare. My guess is that maybe the CS80 has some extra magic going on that makes it such an impressive effect on...

Symbolic Sound Kyma , Capybara, Paca/Pacarana, Umgang und Meinungen

As far as I know, the current Capy hardware is already the third generation, they've updated it twice already. And it took about 5 years between every generation. Maybe the new DSPs were software compatible with the previous ones, while this time there is no such option available. Maybe they are...

Symbolic Sound Kyma , Capybara, Paca/Pacarana, Umgang und Meinungen

Fully agree with you there! It's the best there is, imo. But it's just too damn expensive for me. We're talking $3550 for the capy + $2400 for 4 extra cards + shipping + 20% customs and taxes, which is close to $7200 for a reasonable system that is technically already at the end of it's...

Analoge Polysynths - welche haben die schnellsten Envs?

I once owned an Andro and had the same problem. I was always fighting the envelopes and could never find a nice sounding setting. It took ages to get something close to what I wanted (percussive, snappy). Then when trying the same on my modular, I had the sound in a couple of seconds, and much...

Symbolic Sound Kyma , Capybara, Paca/Pacarana, Umgang und Meinungen

I would love to get a Kyma system, and at this particular point in m life I actually could buy one... But I won't, because the hardware is seriously outdated imo, and you need a TON of additional (and expensive) DSP cards to get a good real-time performance using the timeline and a couple of...

    MOTM-190 µVCA

The '190 has two independent VCAs, and only VCA #1 can be switched to VCA or RM mode. In RM mode it uses both the audio and CV input of VCA #1 as RM sources, while VCA #2 can do it's own thing.

    MOTM User hereinspaziert !

I also have a MOTM system, and I think I have all the filters. I build them from kits. The '440 is indeed the fattest and warmest of them all. A real 'classic' filter, and the bass stays, even when you turn up the resonance, unlike what you get with a Moog ladder filter. There's even a bass...

    Hi and Cwejman S1 question

Okay Sigmund, that's good enough for me! ;) I was not reffering to dirt only, although I understand that assumption giving my synth examples. I was reffering to all the normal analog 'magic', the stuff to badly missed in digital synths, no matter how hard they try. Since that scope image of the...

    Hi and Cwejman S1 question

I wonder, is the S1 actually sexy sounding? For example, when you listen to an SH-7 or an MS20 with it's ripping filters, you hear tons of stuff in the sound that shouldn't really be there, but it's so damn sexy! Part of what makes analog so interesting is all the 'extras' you get in the sound...
