Tanzbar 2...some bugs, but sounds amazing and is very capable. Analog kicks and snares don't get much better than these.
What's not to love?
-8 analog voices (including a variable waveform bass synth- with attack, decay, cutoff, res, envelope, tune, and octave control.
-10 sample voices (3...
The 'pretty much useless' FM synth could be used for melodies if we could record MIDI notes in the AB sequencer from an external keyboard, which we can't. What a waste of an FM synth.
Yeeeeah, not sure if I'll buy another Jomox product to be honest. If the underdeveloped sequencer in the AB is any indicator of what the future holds, I'm not interested.
I'v enever had a problem with external sync, probably because I use a MIDI clock generator to keep the timing tight. The sequencer is very basic and it's the main weakness of the instrument overall imo. Kickdrum and Mrbrane are versatile sound tools but the FM synth is almost useless for any...
It's a shame the sequencer isn't a bit deeper. Note nudge would be killer. Swinging rolls would be dope too.
The FM synth can sound very melodic (instead of chaotic) when triggered from an external keyboard because you can play chords and finger arpeggios- problem is, we can't record any of...
Are the 3 new scenes designed using only the analog circuitry, bypassing samples?
Pattern repeats would be good for song mode, I agree. I'd love to see individual BPMs, kits and time signatures for each bank of patterns- each bank having it's own BPM, kit and time signature would be great...
Been a while since the last update...does anybody have any info on possible updates? Some ideas I have are:
1.Add the function to record MIDI notes into AB sequencer from external keyboard controller. That would really make the FM synth more of a musical tool.
2.Note nudge
3. Unquantized...
I judge drum machines by their ability to inspire me, and they all inspire me in different ways. I'm still hoping for the Tanzbar 2 to continue development- definitely a favorite of mine.
Cool, I know of the lens but had to look up the camera. Did you use the 1.48x magnification? The 5-axis image stabilization in the camera housing is a great feature for hand-held shots. Seems like a good camera for sure. That fly close-up is amazing. Did you use a skinny tube lens? Something...
Both are excellent. I find I have to plan out drum placements carefully to compensate for the 8 voice limit on the Rytm, and where it lacks in analog sound (I think it's analog drum sounds are light-years behind MFB's and JoMoX's), it makes up for that with more sequencing and p-lock functions...
I've read that Fricke Jr. and the Manfred's partner's are continuing with development and more T2s should be available this month. We'll just have to wait.
First, very sad to know Mr. Fricke passed ... the man was a genius and I appreciate his brilliant instrument design, as I'm sure all owners of MFB gear do; RIP and my condolences to his family.
I love my Tanzbar 2 of course but have been reading that there are problems with the most recent...
Tempest is special, but it takes a while to find out. I did this track using only the Tempest.
No other instruments or samples were used. Every musical and percussive sound was produced by the Tempest drum synth.
I hope you enjoy my contribution(:

Yeah I know lol. I have zero interest in RD-8...Why would I? I have one of the best sounding drum machines ever made- the Dancing Bear 2! That being said, the Roland Fantom is on my radar for sure lol.
Alpha Base is awesome but I don't understand the logic of how they programmed parameter locks. With OS 1.4 if you have a pattern and change parameters for example at the end of 4 bars, you have to also lock the first steps back to their original settings. It is like programming everything twice.
