Roland JX-10 rack mounted

I picked up the internal boards from a super JX-10 a few months back, they were super cheap at 150 euros for everything, I already had a JX-10 project on the go, but I was considering double the polyphony to 24 voices etc. I never got around to it and space was tight in the new build and only room for 2 voice cards and not 4.

So I decided to update this one with Vecoven V4 PWM and a nice new OLED display, of course I added the power supply upgrade to save space and in a 3U rack I managed to create this. The bend range button replaced the 4 position slider and it's attached to an R4 stamp, the volume control was completely broken so again the volume pot connects to the R4 and the R4 DAC controls and stereo VCA for volume so you can still have seperate upper and lower volumes.

That I wished ~ 15 years ago.
I had a early JX-10 with a great sound. Then i bought a MKS-70. Compared to my JX-10 the sound was boring.
I sold the JX few years ago to get more space for other things. May be in a rack unit i kept it.

Strange, I had a jx and an mks previously and they sounded identical. I now have three JX's, two keyboard and this one.

I had a short time also three JX.
My old one was optically „rocked“, then i bought on eBay a JX in good shape, but it had the same sound like the MKS, then I bought the third. Same!
I sold the newer JXs and kept the „rocked“.

We had discussed this topic also here…
