Virl Archer was a European composer of the 20th and 21st century.
The incomplete and sketchy body of work was discovered after his assumed death, dispersed on various platforms and media, published under a plethora of names, some of which are disputed.
Despite Archer seems not to have published any music under the name, the artist is sometimes referred to as
John lePeintre, a signee of illustrations of rare lesbian themed pulp love stories published under the name Jean Mahler in the 1990s.
The identity remains disputed, however.

The music, composed in a unique idiosyncratic multifacetd minimalist metamodern style apears as variations of a few themes and topics and as parts or sketches of what is assumed to be a vast single monumental opus, with several distinctly different pieces bearing the same names.
It is estimated that well over 2000 compositions and over 166 hours of music existed.
