As the smell of roasted chestnuts embraces the streets of Zagreb, the most unpatient of us are already counting down the days to the tasting of new wine, while our parents are already starting to save up for the ever increasing gas and electricity bills, cfsn is proud to present the biggest and warmest party this winter.
From November 28th to December 6th a series of lectures, workshops, famous guests and fabulos parties will make you smash your piggy bank and connect to a whole new kind of illectricity!
Dearly beloved, we present to you the fourth edition of Illectric Funk festival , known from now on as ILLECTRICITY. Following the wild path of the festival which made more than 3 000 of you jump and dance moved by the most recent musical inventions of artists such as LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad, Scotch Egg, DJ Krush, The Bug, Digital Mystikz, Dub Pistols, TM Juke live, SKC, Nocturnal, Blu Mar Ten i Teknoist we continue our mission hoping your love of good music and dance will envelop the cold winter nights.
MARY ANNE HOBBS (BBC radio 1 / Great Britain)
We are most proud to present the first lady of BBC Radio1, the amazing Mary Anne Hobbs, who has succesfully promoted some of the most popular artists of today through her Experimental electronic show (once known as Breezeblock). The dame who started her career as a music journalist at 19 working for magazines such as Sounds, NME and Loaded, continued to pursue her basic interest for music on BBC, GLR and XFM radio stations which led to her being one of the favourite voices of BBC Radio1 today. Her 'Dubstep Warz' show for Radio1 in January 2006 is widely regarded as the show that broke the dubstep sound globally, and she followed this in August 2008 with the 'Generation Bass' special curated at her invitation by the original Dubstep Warz DJs. Mary Anne released a definitive underground compilation album in June 2008 'Evangeline' on the Planet Mu label, featuring exclusive dubs from some of her favourite artists operating on the electronic underground scenes she supports, following her notorious debut for the label 'Warrior Dubz' in October 2006. Mary Anne curated her 2nd stage for BBC Radio1 Sonar Festival in June 2008, featuring Mala, Flying Lotus and Shackleton, following the historic UK Dubstep Showcase at Sonar Festival in 2007 taking the sound out of small humid clubs for the very first time and onto an international festival stage infront of 8.5 thousand people plus with Skream, Oris Jay and Kode 9 & The Spaceape. Mary Anne's time at Radio 1 has been hectic. She has hosted shows from all the major award ceremonies: Q, NME, Brits, Kerrang, Mercury Music Prize… and made documentaries about artists as diverse as David Bowie, Slipknot and The Sex Pistols, founded and fronted the award-winning Radio 1 Rock Show for five years, fronted 27 hours of live coverage at Glastonbury Festival for the BBC, and much more...

Except from being the prettiest artists of this year's festival, the Berlin bass heavy trio is also known to be enjoyed by one of the world's most popular couples – Brangelina. And while the sassy and satirical vocalist Sasha Perrera and her to multiinstrumentalist sidekicks Orena Gerlitz and Robert Koch are more interested in making Berlin the capital of innovative club music, Jahcoozi is a low-end grime-tech-dub-rave-tronic monster that effortlessly boils down these infinite shades of electronica into an irresistible blend of pop. Jahcoozi was also voted artist of the month on MTV, and playing at renowned festivals, techno clubs and concert stages, they've shared a stage with the likes of Public Enemy, Jamie Lidell, Aphex Twin, Roots Manuva, Massive Attack, Chicks on Speed and many more… Studio collaborations (remixes and features) include a long list of international underground celebrities such as Modeselektor, Kano, Ata, JME, New Flesh, Soom-T, Stereotyp, Virus Syndicate and Highfish. DEADBEAT live (~scape, Wagonrepair / Canada)
Deadbeat is one Scott Monteith, a long time Montrealer and recent Berlin ex-pat who has been releasing his own special blend of dub laden, minimal electronics since 2000, for labels such as Cynosure, Scape, and Wagon Repair to name but a few. His work has been met with consistent critical acclaim from the industry's leading publications and websites, and drawn regular performance invitations for some of the world's most respected festivals, including Barcelona's Sonar, Berlin's Transmediale, and Montreal's own Mutek. From 1999 to late 2003, Scott worked, assuming various roles, for the Montreal based company Applied Acoustics Systems, makers of a range of critically acclaimed software synthesizers. Having now moved on to pursue his own musical efforts full time, the experience left him with a passion for the development of new creative interfaces, and a strong grasp of some the most cutting edge technology in the industry. A certified music technology junkie, his knowledge in such matters has been occasionally called upon at various events, most notably the 2007 edition of the Red Bull Music Academy in Melbourne, Australia, and as a writer for Computer Music Magazine. Whether crafting kaleidoscopic house and techno, snap-clap digital dancehall, or impossibly heavy dub, Scott continues to search for his own unique voice between the ones and zeros. His new album, Roots and Wire, is one of the reasons he's coming to Zagreb, along with appearances on lectures and music production workshops which are to be held as part ofIllectricity.

CLP – Chris De Luca vs Phon.o w. MC Tunde Olaniran live (Shitkatapult, Boysnoize Rec. / Germany)
The story of this booty rockin' pair goes way back to the times of Funkstörung, as which Chris de Luca. and partner Michael Fakesch. released an uncountable amount of records on !K7, Compost Records, Musik aus Strom, Acid Planet and many more. Their remixes for Björk, Wu-Tang Clan, Speedy J and Plaid attracted worldwide attention, and in 2002, de Luca intensely lived out his love for hip hop with friend Peabird on his first solo album Deadly Wiz Da Disko, a unique mix of old school hip hop and cut-up beats which can confidently be called groundbreaking for the genre. As the album Return to Acid Planet was released, coinciding with the band's 10th anniversary, Fakesch decided to quit Funkstörung which left Chris with his back against the wall. Remembering his collaboration with young German producer and DJ Phon.O who was a support act on Funksorungs Disconnected tour and had invited de Luca to fool around with his single Trick Or Treat, Chris decided to invite Phon.O to fill in for Michael Fakesch on a a couple of confirmed Funkstörung gigs left to play. The boys joined forces in the spring of 2006. Since then, they've been rocking clubs and festivals all over Europe with their ass-kicking sets as Chris de Luca vs. Phon.o. This unconventional combination of intergalactic hip hop, ghetto beats, sexy booty IDM and dirty techno goes beyond typical contemporary genre boundaries. Soon after, the two guys locked themselves in a studio and worked like crazy apes on new tracks for their collaborative album called Supercontinental, which was released on the label Shitkatapult in October. To kill time in between intercontinental MC coordination, CLP let club sound magician Boys Noize hire them for a 12" guest performance on Boysnoize Records. In no time the friendly boy pulled two of their favourite remixers out of a hat: the Duo Infernale Diplo vs. DJ Sega and the incredible Mix Hell. And because of all the thundering applause, the two decided to drop some letters and call themselves CLP from now on. It's time to CLaP!

Klute (Comercial Suicide, Metalheadz / Great Britain)
Unlike many of his contemporaries, the musical career of Tom Withers began way before the sounds of drum and bass or even hardcore had first emerged. As Tommy Stupid he fronted skate punk outfit The Stupids and took the band on tours of Europe, the USA and Australia during the late 1980s before venturing into electronic music and starting his own solo career. Throughout his career, he's always been happy to let his rebel roots show and has never been afraid to buck the trend. His ability to combine a multitude of influences in his music, from techno to thrash to dub, with punk attitude is Klute's trademark. Klute's early forays into jungle brought several outings on the seminal Certificate 18 label and a relationship grew that resulted in the release of his first artist album, "Casual Bodies" in 1998. He went on to release a further album "Fear of People" on Certificate 18 in 2000 before seeking a new home following the demise of the label. Initially fearing that no-one else would want to release his music, at time when the scene seemed to dominated by soundalikes and trend followers, Klute went his own and set up his own imprint. Klute kicked off Commercial Suicide with the genre-defying classic "Tranceformat" in 2001 and set the tone for the label that has since come to be held in the highest regard. Releases from the likes of Calibre, Digital, Spirit, Hive and Juju raised the label's profile and helped build a reputation for varied output across the specturm of drum and bass, testing both musical boundaries and the dancefloor. In 2006 Klute showed his faith in two of the scene's most promising artists, Amit and SKC, by putting out their debut artist albums and for 2007 has a busy schedule packed with releases from artists including Insight and Break. Mixing heart-stopping melodies with relentless beats, Klute has developed a sound that is very much his own and one that appeals to a broad audience. More recently in 2007, Klute's debut for Friction's Shogun Audio label "Revolution/Most People are Dicks" showed his love of Detroit techno and reminded us he knows only too well how to work the dancefloor. His latest LP, "The Emperor's New Clothes", gives the fullest representation of his sound yet, however, taking the listener through a spectrum of styles. Equally at home whether playing at a Metalheadz night or mixing liquid styles with the Soul:r camp, Klute always brings a fresh and varied selection with the same high energy levels as his productions are known for. Never one to be pigeonholed, Klute's sets cross styles as well as challenge boundaries and always please the dancefloor.

A frenzied fanatic of all things bass, the Boom Monk leaves no stone unturned and no sound unheard in his quest for dancefloor devastation. From hip hop, dancehall, funk and break beats to house, electro, dubstep and drum and bass, as long as it makes him, us and you move on the floor then it will get put the through the blender in his imitable style. The mighty Ninja Tune have been impressed enough to approach Ben to provide a series of 'Boom Monk Zen' mixes for their world famous Solid Steel radio show, where Ben beat off competition from Mr Scruff, Kid Koala, Cut Chemist, MANDY, James Holden and many, many more. His sets were so amazing that Ninja Tune, while celebrating the 20th anniversary of thir Solid Steel show, invited Ben to become the newest Ninja DJ! We are happy to announce he will be opening Illectricity on November 28th in Logic club!

THE PANACEA (Position Chrome, Offkey / Germany)
The teutonic mastermind of production, Mathis Mootz, which is better know under his greek-healing-goddess alter ego Panacea, after emergining in 1996 with his massive full-length 'Low Profile Darkness' has developed the most explosive hardcore drum'n'bass industrial cocktail on the market. Although he appreciates Ram Records, Virus Recordings, No U Turn and DHR labels, from which come his greatest influences such as Ed Rush, the music he makes as Panacea is a chaotically insane hardcore drum'n'bass which will tear down any idea of structure you might have. Contrary to popular belief, this wicked producer is not entirely limited to dnb. His experimental, electro, and neo-industrial beats were produced under the aliases of Squaremeter, Disorder, Warfare, Kate Mosh, Bad Street Boy, Radar and Rich Kid. These productions landed on labels like Mille Plateaux, Ant-Zen, Hands Productions, Ambush, Ad Noiseam, Kniteforce, Intransigent and Outbreak to name a few. The rebirth of his label Position Chrome, and the launch of close friend Raidens' Offkey Recordings, marks the start for awesome collaborations and heavy tuneage in the future. The Panacea has recently joined the Anger Management DJ roster, and will be releasing this year on Dylan's mighty Freak Recordings. The almighty Panacea is far from retiring, as long as there are territories and dancefloors he has not devastated with his delirious choice of tracks. The home and studio of the darkest face of twisted dnb is hidden on a small wine farm in Sommerhausen, far from people who have no idea what kind of digital arms and studio artillery are hidden in their neighbourhood.

Once heard, Various' sound is difficult to miss. Worry not, this boy is much older than he looks! Rustie, a true Glasgow lad, who has been messing about with Fruity Loops and electronic beats since 2002., is now a full time member of the fresh LuckyMe crew, and a respected DJ worldwide. Although he had his first issue back in 2005., published under the name Voltaic, he became the subject of much praise as his amazing Jagz The Smack which was released on an unsuspecting public through fledgling label Stuff Records quite literally sent shockwaves through the electronic music scene, with everyone from Modeselektor to Flying Lotus, Anthony Shake Shakir to Alex Smoke going absolutely crazy for it. An electronic maverick of the highest order, Rustie marries the energy of hyphy with the low slung bass of dubstep while straddling the stuttering swagger of European electronica with the greatest of ease. 2008 has already seen further critically acclaimed releases on Stuff and Kode 9's Hyperdub label and remixes for Jahcoozi and Alex Smoke, legendary Warp Records and many more. Rustie is truly a producer in huge demand all over. His DJ & live shows have taken him all over the UK and Europe, and he´s recently played alongside Method Man & Redman, The RZA, Modeselektor, Flying Lotus and many more. This year he's already played at Bloc Festival where his set was later played on Mary Anne Hobbs' Experimental show, as well as Sonar festival. Quite simply, Rustie is at this point one of the most exciting electronic dance music artists on the planet.

This unconventional combination of intergalactic hip hop, ghetto beats, sexy booty IDM and dirty techno goes beyond typical contemporary genre boundaries. Soon after, the two guys locked themselves in a studio and worked like crazy apes on new tracks for their collaborative album called Supercontinental, which was released on the label Shitkatapult in October. To kill time in between intercontinental MC coordination, CLP let club sound magician Boys Noize hire them for a 12" guest performance on Boysnoize Records. In no time the friendly boy pulled two of their favourite remixers out of a hat: the Duo Infernale Diplo vs. DJ Sega and the incredible Mix Hell. And because of all the thundering applause, the two decided to drop some letters and call themselves CLP from now on. It's time to CLaP!

Klute (Comercial Suicide, Metalheadz / Great Britain)
Unlike many of his contemporaries, the musical career of Tom Withers began way before the sounds of drum and bass or even hardcore had first emerged. As Tommy Stupid he fronted skate punk outfit The Stupids and took the band on tours of Europe, the USA and Australia during the late 1980s before venturing into electronic music and starting his own solo career. Throughout his career, he's always been happy to let his rebel roots show and has never been afraid to buck the trend. His ability to combine a multitude of influences in his music, from techno to thrash to dub, with punk attitude is Klute's trademark. Klute's early forays into jungle brought several outings on the seminal Certificate 18 label and a relationship grew that resulted in the release of his first artist album, "Casual Bodies" in 1998. He went on to release a further album "Fear of People" on Certificate 18 in 2000 before seeking a new home following the demise of the label. Initially fearing that no-one else would want to release his music, at time when the scene seemed to dominated by soundalikes and trend followers, Klute went his own and set up his own imprint. Klute kicked off Commercial Suicide with the genre-defying classic "Tranceformat" in 2001 and set the tone for the label that has since come to be held in the highest regard. Releases from the likes of Calibre, Digital, Spirit, Hive and Juju raised the label's profile and helped build a reputation for varied output across the specturm of drum and bass, testing both musical boundaries and the dancefloor. In 2006 Klute showed his faith in two of the scene's most promising artists, Amit and SKC, by putting out their debut artist albums and for 2007 has a busy schedule packed with releases from artists including Insight and Break. Mixing heart-stopping melodies with relentless beats, Klute has developed a sound that is very much his own and one that appeals to a broad audience. More recently in 2007, Klute's debut for Friction's Shogun Audio label "Revolution/Most People are Dicks" showed his love of Detroit techno and reminded us he knows only too well how to work the dancefloor. His latest LP, "The Emperor's New Clothes", gives the fullest representation of his sound yet, however, taking the listener through a spectrum of styles. Equally at home whether playing at a Metalheadz night or mixing liquid styles with the Soul:r camp, Klute always brings a fresh and varied selection with the same high energy levels as his productions are known for. Never one to be pigeonholed, Klute's sets cross styles as well as challenge boundaries and always please the dancefloor.

A frenzied fanatic of all things bass, the Boom Monk leaves no stone unturned and no sound unheard in his quest for dancefloor devastation. The mighty Ninja Tune have been impressed enough to approach Ben to provide a series of 'Boom Monk Zen' mixes for their world famous Solid Steel radio show, where Ben beat off competition from Mr Scruff, Kid Koala, Cut Chemist, MANDY, James Holden and many, many more. His sets were so amazing that Ninja Tune, while celebrating the 20th anniversary of thir Solid Steel show, invited Ben to become the newest Ninja DJ! THE PANACEA (Position Chrome, Offkey / Germany)
The teutonic mastermind of production, Mathis Mootz, which is better know under his greek-healing-goddess alter ego Panacea, after emergining in 1996 with his massive full-length 'Low Profile Darkness' has developed the most explosive hardcore drum'n'bass industrial cocktail on the market. Although he appreciates Ram Records, Virus Recordings, No U Turn and DHR labels, from which come his greatest influences such as Ed Rush, the music he makes as Panacea is a chaotically insane hardcore drum'n'bass which will tear down any idea of structure you might have. Contrary to popular belief, this wicked producer is not entirely limited to dnb. His experimental, electro, and neo-industrial beats were produced under the aliases of Squaremeter, Disorder, Warfare, Kate Mosh, Bad Street Boy, Radar and Rich Kid. These productions landed on labels like Mille Plateaux, Ant-Zen, Hands Productions, Ambush, Ad Noiseam, Kniteforce, Intransigent and Outbreak to name a few. The rebirth of his label Position Chrome, and the launch of close friend Raidens' Offkey Recordings, marks the start for awesome collaborations and heavy tuneage in the future. The Panacea has recently joined the Anger Management DJ roster, and will be releasing this year on Dylan's mighty Freak Recordings. The almighty Panacea is far from retiring, as long as there are territories and dancefloors he has not devastated with his delirious choice of tracks. The home and studio of the darkest face of twisted dnb is hidden on a small wine farm in Sommerhausen, far from people who have no idea what kind of digital arms and studio artillery are hidden in their neighbourhood.

Once heard, Various' sound is difficult to miss. Rising up, seemingly out of nowhere, in 2005 with their critically lauded 7" "Hater/Biker Walk", the production company left journalists, fans and critics baffled as to the origins, intentions and meanings of their unique style. They could be billed as a kind of eclectic fusion of electronic beats, soulful, melodic lyrics, and folkish introspections. Those who have heard them know that each release will bring something different. In a modern age obsessed by categorization, Various are unwilling to play ball. Various don't want to be a nice box of clear definitions delivered to your 'myspace' doorstep. They want you to discover their music without preconceptions. Various' intention is to create an aural experience that is inclusive, rather than exclusive, a band that can be approached from any angle the listener wants. RUSTIE (Wireblock, Stuffrecords, Warp / Great Britain)
Worry not, this boy is much older than he looks! Rustie, a true Glasgow lad, who has been messing about with Fruity Loops and electronic beats since 2002., is now a full time member of the fresh LuckyMe crew, and a respected DJ worldwide. Although he had his first issue back in 2005., published under the name Voltaic, he became the subject of much praise as his amazing Jagz The Smack which was released on an unsuspecting public through fledgling label Stuff Records quite literally sent shockwaves through the electronic music scene, with everyone from Modeselektor to Flying Lotus, Anthony Shake Shakir to Alex Smoke going absolutely crazy for it. An electronic maverick of the highest order, Rustie marries the energy of hyphy with the low slung bass of dubstep while straddling the stuttering swagger of European electronica with the greatest of ease. 2008 has already seen further critically acclaimed releases on Stuff and Kode 9's Hyperdub label and remixes for Jahcoozi and Alex Smoke, legendary Warp Records and many more. Rustie is truly a producer in huge demand all over. His DJ & live shows have taken him all over the UK and Europe, and he´s recently played alongside Method Man & Redman, The RZA, Modeselektor, Flying Lotus and many more. This year he's already played at Bloc Festival where his set was later played on Mary Anne Hobbs' Experimental show, as well as Sonar festival. Quite simply, Rustie is at this point one of the most exciting electronic dance music artists on the planet.
