Rumour on Gearjunkies about Logic being discontiued in favour of a new one which will work with leopard only (OS X 10.5), here’s a quote:

Again as we search the internet for ‘news’ we came across rumours on Apples Logic Pro. It seems that there will be NO LOGIC Pro 8! According to a former Emagic employee there will be no new update for Logic.

Some details on the Gearslutz forum:
- The new app will have a new name.
- They are working on it for 5 years and it will be out this year.
- It will be a “Pro Tools Killer” with a Logic feel but in a new user interface and take advantage of OSX.5 (it will need it and don’t work on X.4 or prior) and new Apple hardware (touch screen display).

A Dream? Or what? Gearjunkies.. is also just a forum, but hmm.. imo apple MUST go for another version, too.. if they jump on the “midi is useless” bandwagon logic is dead for most of the synthesists.. but they cooould have inplemented sounddiver or beter: developed a new one?.. hmm.. rumours, rumours..

Eigentlich hätte ich nix dagegen ich weiß aber das man dann wieder tief in die Tasche greifen muß...

Aber Apple traue ich diesen Weg definitiv zu...

klar, mein reden - nur hab ich keine lust, dafür *alles* andere an software und computer- sowie soundhardware tauschen zu müssen und wieder für jedes plugin-update extra zu latzen...jetz is langsam ma schluss...hab denen soviel kohle in den rachen geworfen...nö - dann schmoll ich halt

aber erstmal abwarten, bis getz isset nur ein jerüscht.

Hier könnte man sehr interessante Spekulationen über neue GUI und Co anstellen, auch in zusammenhang mit dem hier:

Aber auch sowas wie das BEdienkonzept der Yamaha Digipulte als kleiner Touchscreen, der zusätzlich da ist oder auch direkt a la Cintiq (Wacom) nur ohne Stift an einem beweglichen TFT.. Das könnte die old-school Mausbedinung immens alt aussehen lassen.. Besonders, wenn sie das sogar Systemweit hinbekommen... Dann sieht Vista noch älter aus.. Hoffen wir nur darauf, dass sie Midi und Steuerung nicht vergessen..

Apple Readying Next Generation Logic Pro For MusikMesse Debut?

It appears that Apple will premier the next generation of “Logic” at MusikMesse on Wednesday. The Digital Audio Workstation will most likely be renamed in accordance with their other software offerings. Some rumors state that the next generation Logic will only run on Mac OS 10.5.

The comprehensive revamp of Logic into a more Apple-like program is something that most users thought would come much sooner in the storied DAW’s history. Apple’s purchase of Emagic raised quite a few eyebrows due to the program’s notorious learning curve — an attribute that goes against the fabric of Apple’s core philosophy. Even some diehard users of the program secretly hoped that Apple would give Logic the user-friendly Apple sheen that the concern is known for. However, the program has fit nicely into the Apple software heirarchy and many users have migrated from other products, such as Steinberg’s Cubase.

Now several clues indicate that MusikMesse is going to be the stage for the programs debut. First, the $49 Logic Pro 7.2 Crossgrade package, an update that delivers new features and Intel Mac support for users of PowerPC-native Logic Pro 7.0 or 7.1, is no longer available for purchase at Apple’s online shop. This follows a new product announcement pattern that many believe indicates a major upgrade. Second, Apple has invited retailers to a special briefing on the night of March 26th — one day before exhibits offically open to the German public.
