What is Platform or Smart Engineering? We are often asked how we design synthesizers. We’d love to give you some background as this is actually pretty cool.
Rather then reinventing the wheel every time we start a new synth, we first build platforms, a methodology that is very common in the automotive industry, where several cars share the same chassis, engines, door handles etc.
You may have noticed that for example we use several standard enclosures across our synths and drum machines. Reusing existing building blocks or platforms, dramatically speeds up development and reduces engineering and manufacturing cost.
This is also the exact reason why we’re developing so many products at the same time.
We currently have a roadmap of over 100 synths, drums, sequencers, midi keyboards etc. and right from the start, we decide on common power supplies, microcontrollers, keybeds, USB/Midi interfaces etc.
The image here shows a new platform, which one of our 7 synthesizer development teams has developed. Like you have seen with the Micro and Mini synths, this is now the Macro synth platform, which focuses on high power hybrid synths, based on an extremely powerful signal processor, that allows us to run some of the most complex granular or waveform synthesis algorithms. In fact we made it so powerful that it could even run multiple synths concurrently.
Unlike some of our competitors who simply use a Raspberry PI computer, we go the extra mile to deploy industry-grade embedded microprocessors. As you can imagine, developing this complex platform is extremely time consuming and expensive. However, once this platform is completed, the next synth development will require around 60-80% less work. This principle is called platform or smart engineering and over the past 30 years, we have spent huge amount of effort to master this discipline. This is one of many reasons, why we can offer our products at much lower prices.
Let us know if you have any questions.

Erklär mal bitte.Das wirre Layout der Patchbay in deren rechter Hälfte und die Verwendung von Miniklinken zeigt, dass Behringer das Bedienkonzept des Easel noch nicht vollständig verstanden hat.
