Here's a quick presentation of what Lemur v1.5 brings.
bidirectional
Lemur v1.5 can now be remote-controlled via MIDI in addition to OSC. This allows you to emulate any control surface protocol, and keep your Lemur's state up-to-date with your host software.
Record a mix of your song from the Lemur, and play it back to see the automation data on the Lemur's screen. With the Lemur, you're not limited to vertical motorized faders : every single object can be controlled from external input !
Inter-application MIDI communication is built in the JazzEditor for Mac OS X through the JazzEditor Input and Outputs virtual ports. WinXP users need to download a third-party virtual MIDI driver. We recommend using Maple Virtual Midi Cable.
targets
Each of you project's objects and variables can now be mapped to one of 8 MIDI targets, and the same with OSC. One MIDI target corresponds to a pair of MIDI input and output. One OSC target corresponds to a computer's IP and a port number.
Now you can easily drive several MIDI synthesizers from one hand, while controlling multiple computers on the network with the other, thanks to multiple target support.
modules_containers
With Lemur v1.5, you no longer have to design all your interfaces from scratch. The new Import/Export feature lets you store your favourite interface components and reuse them in other contexts. With a single click, you can import and reuse that crazy MIDI keyboard you designed for a project months ago. You also have access to many modules created by other Lemur users and shared on Jazzmutant's User Library.
Modules can comprise of a single object, or a complex ensemble of objects and variables interacting with each other and nicely packed inside the new Container object.
project_design
Designing interfaces for the Lemur has never been easier. Version 1.5 features a highly improved interface editor. This new editor provides a more efficient way to design your personal interfaces and lets you easily route your control data - MIDI and OSC - to your applications. Customizable window tabs allow you to keep your editor environment well organized.
The MIDI and OSC tabs let you assign an object or a variable to an existing OSC or MIDI target from a single click. Mapping a Multiball to a couple of MIDI Control Changes is now just a matter of seconds ! The Custom MIDI object is still here with even more options to allow for complex MIDI mapping involving several objects' states. Besides, you can now fully customize the OSC messages that your objects send out and respond to, to adapt smoothly to the application you want to control.
Objects can now be grouped inside an interface, making it easier to change multiple objects' properties at once, or resizing and aligning a bunch of faders by the press of a button.
