SCI Prophet VS new dev’ed PSU 4 longer life / Neuentwickltes Netzteil: längeres Leben d. radikal weniger Hitze
Für den Prophet VS gibt es nun ein spezielles neues Netzteil,
diese Netzteile gibt es auch für eine Reihe anderer Synthesizer – sie alle haben den Vorteil sehr viel weniger Wärme zu erzeugen und dadurch auch die Bauteile zu schonen – für den SCI Prophet VS gibt es jetzt auch eine Anpassung welche:
- nur noch 20 Watt verbraucht
- dadurch nicht mehr heiß wird
- kein Brummen erzeugt
- keine Vibrationen mehr macht
- Das Netzteil selbst ist deutlich kleiner als konventionelle Netzteile
- Der Einbau muss in Bochum vorgenommen werden, das Gerät muss also dort hin, es ist auch nicht ganz billig, nämlich 450€ – aber dafür einzigartig. Der Preis ist inkl 2h Arbeit/Einbau.
- Es gibt auch eine Reihe anderer Synthesizer, für die dieses Netzteil erhältlich ist – die meisten haben nicht selten ähnliche Effekte und extrem weniger Stromverbrauch – zumeist um die 50% – die nicht mehr zum Aufheizen des Innenraums des Synths abfallen müssen. Zum Beispiel der Oberheim Matrix 12 – das ist nicht nur für die Bauteile besser, sie halten einfach länger und das Gerät glüht und brummt nicht mehr. Die meisten und besten Profiteure eines solchen Umbaus sind Geräte mit hohem Verbrauch oder mit einem Lüfter, der dann entfallen kann (Memorymoog, Synthex, CS80..)
Synthtaste in Bochum totally redesigned the PSU of the Prophet VS. It allows:
- a lot less heat is produced
- 20 Watts only
- no more vibrating parts or humming noises (mechanically)
- saves the components from aging more
- it is smaller than conventional power units
- it is 2hrs of work and needs to be sent in to SynthTaste in Bochum, Germany – ask for pricing.
- some other (almost vintage) synths can be modded the same way – they get rid of fans, power consumption, last longer, almost just half the power is needed compared to the original psu’s – that’s why it is better- especially on synths with a fan inside or with very high consumption like Memorymoog, Synthex and CS80 or the Jupiter 8.

Works absolutely perfect !
You can hear it ( no audible hum any more )
You can feel it ( not longer 50 Hz vibrations on the surface noticeable )
You can even smell it ( no light scent of hot black varnish in the air after long operation times )
Last but not least you can see it ( eventually the chance of smoke leaving the old power unit has virtually gone down to zero )
Didn’t taste it….
Martin did a great Job on the VS. I put mine out of the job for years due to power unit problems and the concomitant fear that something really bad could happen with the overheated original unit.
After this modification the Synthesizer ist now back on the block without mercy.
