Nein, da ist nur ein einfaches Freeware Delay/Reverb Plugin auf der Summe, das hab ich dazugegeben als ich die 3 Spuren in Audacity zusammengemischt habe.

Ich arbeite ja von jeher gerne mit Overdubs, von daher ist ein einzelner Volca FM für mich an sich vollkommen ausreichend. Okay, der FM hat jetzt nicht so fürchterlich viele Knöpfe wo es Sinn macht im Verlauf eines Tracks dran herumzuschrauben (finde ich), aber umso besser, dann hat man noch eine Hand für den Kaffeebecher frei :kaffee:
 
Ich habe eine Frage zur Velocity-Implementation des Volca FM. Der interne Velocity-Controller ist CC41. Und da habe ich mir gedacht, baue doch ein Tool, das diesen CC senden kann; und obendrein dann auch MIDI ON/OFF`s.
Natürlich in der Hoffnung, dass es funktioniert. Mit meiner Supernova II ließ sich der eingestellte Controller CC41 via Velocity modulieren (es gehen auch andere CC-Controller). Ob der Volca das mag, weiß ich nicht.
Der MIDI Monitor in Cubase zeigt jedenfalls den Controller 41-Value in Abhängigkeit von der Velocity an; sowie Note ON/OFF`s.
In der MIDI Implementation wird jedenfalls als Fußnote vermerkt: Notes *1: Received when global parameter MIDI RX ShortMessage is set to ON.

Also, meine Frage ist, ob der Volca das empfangen kann. Falls nicht, gibt es nächste Woche ein langes Gesicht mehr auf dieser Welt...
Hier das Tool; ihr könnt mir mal Eure Erfahrungen mitteilen. Aber das geht nur mit Windows in 32 bit normal; oder als W64 additiv mit der JBridge:

Ja das sollte funktionieren (ohne mir das Plugin angesehen zu haben). Wichtig ist, das der CC41 VOR dem NoteOn gesendet wird!
Bei meinen ersten Versuchen mit einem MidiPal einfach Velocity auf CC41 zu mappen, ging das in die Hose, da der MidiPal den ursprünglichen NoteOn VOR dem erzeugten CC sendet.
Letztendlich hab ich die Firmware einfach etwas umgestrickt, so dass er jetzt auch den CC VOR dem NoteOn senden kann und kann so den VolcaFM mit Velocity spielen...
 
Ach so, deshalb.....ich hatte mich schon gewundert, dass es manchmal besser und manchmal nicht so gut funktioniert. Dann werde ich wohl noch eine Verzögerung für den Note ON-Befehl einbauen müssen.
Das dürften nur ein paar ms sein.

Verfolgt hier jemand die Diskussion auf Gearslutz für die alternative Firmware, die ein paar wichtige Bugs entfernt hat? Bekommt man nur, wenn man den Menschen via PM anschreibt.
Gibts genauso für die Volca Sample, die letztendlich die Funktionalität von diesem überteuerten MIDI-Adapter und noch mehr erzielt.
 
Ich werd mir jetzt noch einen zweiten Volca FM zulegen um mehr von meinen Sachen in einem "Live-Durchgang" einspielen zu können. Hab gerade wieder einen neuen Track ausschließlich mit dem Teil gemacht, auch wieder 3 Overdubs (liegt auch auf meinem Soundcloud Accout zuoberst, "The Sea At Full Moon") und ich mag den Klang und die Bedienung so gerne, ist zur Zeit für so Ambient/Cinematic Sachen mein absolutes Lieblingsgerät. Zum Einspielen hab ich allerdings einen Keystep genommen, die Klaviatur spielt sich natürlich besser.

Jemand hat die FW vom Volker FM gehackt und jede Menge bugs gefixt.

Es gibt jetzt endlich auch Velocity am Midi Eingang (noch nicht getestet) !!

TLDR; I hacked the Volca FM firmware, fixed a bunch of really old bugs, added some features.





I have received a lot of feedback from people requesting the "1.05" FW (that added velocity on MIDI in) that I posted this spring. In June, I made a 1.06 version that added a bunch of other stuff as well. Big THANKS to the small group of beta testers that helped me evaluate that :)


Imagine my surprise when KORG did the september FW drop - I thought the older Volcas were orphaned. But they did release FW for the FM - and still ignored the bugs! It was a bit rich. Now I have grafted my tweaks onto the 1.07 FW - you guys like it super fresh I imagine.


Check the KORG official FW update instructions carefully. 2 files need to go through for this to work as intended. Make sure no other sounds are playing, and use 44.1kHz native sample rate.

Change log (from ORIGINAL KORG fw (1.03, 1.04, 1.07)):


MIDI:


* added a new Global Setting (number 9) that enables/disables(like original) velocity on MIDI notes in.


* added a new Global Setting (number 10) that switches between "Yamaha compatibility" and "Korg proprietary (like original)" single patch import/export behaviour. This makes importing patches from other devices work as it should. See e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/volcas/comments/9s4x6p/volca_fm_some_patches_are_too_low/
In "Yamaha" mode, it will turn all OPs "on" - this is a compromise that I think works better than the FM original. In reality, KORG implemented its own patch format where byte 155 (in the DX7 standard a checksum byte) is used to transfer OP on/off. This is objectively "better" - but again, not actually compatible. Importing patches from e.g. dexed gives weird OP on/off results. (Conversely, if you have a MIDI out mod and dump a MIDI patch to a non-volca device/plug, it will complain that the checksum is wrong and reject it)


* added support for Program Change of patches and patterns. PC 0-31 are the patches, 32-48 are the patterns.





LFO:


The original implementation is riddled with bugs, and three years in KORG has not bothered to fix them. That is bad and they should feel bad. Poor Oscillator Sink tries to steer around the issue: "Now, this gets a bit glitchy..."


Here are the fixes in my v1.08:


* fixed S&H 256x scale error


* fixed S&H update logic error that completely ruined S&H LFO


* fixed LFO sign error (saw up <-> saw down, square polarity etc, now same as dexed)


* added filtering to remove nasty "digital pop" on discontinous LFOs (audible when amplitude modulating with saw, square and S&H)

Note killing on patch switching :


* added new Global Setting (number 11) that sets "Patch change: notes off (like original)" or "Patch change: keep notes on" - this will disable killing off sounding notes when patch switching. This removes the popping noise, but most importantly gives new creative opportunities since the FM can in reality play up to three different sounds at the same time. Already sounding notes are not affected by the newly selected patch. Play a note and hold it down, switch patch and play other notes on top. Or MIDI sequence it using the new MIDI functionality.





New MIDI CCs:


* CC 1 : (Mod wheel) assignable via CC 91, defaults to Pitch Mod Depth


* CC 85: Chorus on/off. value < 64 off, value >= 64 on.


* CC 86: Chorus stereo width, 64 is default


* CC 87: Chorus speed, 64 is default


* CC 88: Load patch, value 0-4: patch 1, 5-8: patch 2 etc up to 127


* CC 89: Load pattern, value 0-8: pattern 1, 9-16: pattern 2 etc up to 127


* CC 90: Tempo divisor, value 0-31: 1/1, 32-63: 1/2, 64-95: 1/4, 96-127: 1/8 (!)


* CC 91: Mod wheel mapping: decides what MIDI CC mod wheel should map to. Example: value 42 sent on CC 91 -> Mod wheel now controls Modulator Attack





The firmware can be overwritten with KORG original firmwares if you feel like it.

Gerade den update gemacht von 1.02 auf die neue 1.08.
Ohne Probleme (musste nur die Lautstärke am audio interface runterregeln, sonst gab es einen Fehlern ("SUM"). Bei nem Fehler normal ausschalten dann wieder der Anleitung zum updaten folgen)

Velocity per Midi funtioniert 1a!
Die neuen CC Werte sind fantastisch zum sequencen. Patch umschalten per CC geht ohne Verzögerung ohne irgendwelche knacks Geräusche.
Die anderen CCs gehen auch.

Ich hatte die ja Kiste nur noch in der Ecke liegen, das wird jetzt anders ;-)

Kann die FW nur empfehlen.

Gefällt mir gut. Ist selten dass hier jemand auch gute Musik machen kann, da muss man bei den Sachen die hier so gepostet werden laaaaaange suchen. Aber muss ja nicht jeder der Synthesizer mag und sich damit auskennt auch gute Musik machen können, von daher ist das schon ok.
 
Ich habe gestern abend wieder gemerkt das der volca fm warscheinlich der beste volca ist. Das Klangpotential ist unerschöpflich.

Mich würde mal interessieren wo dieses inoffizielle Update her kommt. Wer hat das programmiert? Mache ich mir zum Schluss mein Gerät kaputt oder verliere ich Garantieansprüche?
