Oberheim DMX classic beats auf youtube II

[Harlem Nights]

Hi all,
Made another film about what the Oberheim DMX was the famous about: Hip Hop Beats

Think of Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash, Heavy D ...

I used the same sounds as in the previous one with New Order, Cure, Chaka Khan etc. Recreated again with Korg Electribe SX for drums, Roland Juno 106 for imitating bass and synth parts

Scratching emulated on the ESX as well using pitch mod and gate fx

i sold my ESX for a while, but watching your vids showed me it was a bad move.

And... it´s incredible what you´re doing with just one synth and one drummachine !!! You match the original sounds very close ! Respect !

btw did you use the swing function on some beats ?

For Walk This Way, as said on the page the guitar sound is done by using an external distortion unit after the 106 - the playing would have been a bit more dynamic if the 106 had been velocity sensitive. So I doubletracked this guitar part to give it a bit more variety

The bass in The Message was what I hear in it, indeed I found it to be a strange Dim chord
