Clean and bright sounding space with subtile modulation and gradually building density.
Dark, highly diffused sound with high initial echo density and dark modulation.
Capable of huge, wide spaces with deep modulation.
Large and bright reverb utilising a tremolo section to create constantly moving spaces.
Dark, noisy and wonderful sounding reverb modelled after the first digital reverbs from the late 70s.
Yamaha released a freeware for everyone – an easy to edit 4 OP FM Synth which is quite like theTX81z /DX11 – it offers 16 scenes that can be used as a sequencer of settings that can be morphed and the main use of this iPhone/iPad app is a great sounding 4OP FM synth with classic ADDSR envelopes and feedback for each OP! – I really enjoy the FX quality. what I don’t like – you can not save your patch unless you connect one of those keyboards of the MX series from Yamaha – they are not capable of FM but are meant to be used as “master keyboard” which looks a bit “strange” – why not in-app-buying the save functionality for 2 or 4€? .. would be ok.
- Yamaha once in 2015 had this free available at the appstore AN-Synth – which is still cool (called synth book).
HISTORY / FM PROGRAMMERS
..plenty of things up on Yamahas site..
..I enjoyed the programmers they created for editing the first FM prototype – why there is none of those for sale or made it into the synths ? – the GS1 .. so in fact they did programmers first that look like very useful:
full GS editor
pre GS programmer for a system called TRX100
DX1 – prototype
my info about Yamahas Synths – and a detailed view on all the FM synth generations.
The GS1 is shown here (I did not add the GS series to the SynthDB yet, but will do!)
A users render about Yamahas future – do you think they do this kind of effort without bringing new synths somewhere sooner/later?
the DT programmer looks like this (DX7 reissue)
Cute little modular synthesizer app – check the cuteness here:
Hier kommt eine Emulation des C64 SID Chips mit Sequencer im Tracker-Stil für 13€
Sidtracker64 is a perfect name and description – what you get:
1) you get a tracker which has exactly what Reaper and Trackers in general look like ..
2) SID Chip Emulation

on the iPad – 13€.
Here’s the official feature list:

Kung Fury – did you watch it? if so you do know everything about 80’s US films – anything you might want to know and.. it’s in here as a remix / – so they felt inspired in Scandinavia.
and since you need and want to see it – so ask KITT do do so – ready to save the world from ANYTHING evil – and preferably with a C64, not with the newest MacBook Pro.
Korg releases M1 as an iOS App with similar features to the original M1 Digital Synthesizer classic “rompler” synth (from the “legacy” collection).
for it’s 20€ it adds filter resonance, the T-Series ROM content, Kaoss-Pad kind of control / 18x FX types.
and something called VCA Modulation
can be controlled from Korg “Gadget” Sequencer on the same iPad (was updated today as well).
Elastic Drums is one of 2 Apps by the Mouse on Mars Coders – the iPad version is a lot more accessible for the electribe R kind of drum machine that has a lot of synthesis methods to generate drum sounds from snare, bassdrum models to FM and granular..
and since you are a reader of this blog you can have 2 chances of getting it for free. Thanks to Oliver for providing sequencer.de to give them to you for free!
look! did you see the MIDI Menu? it has sync’ing options..

remember Patch Morpher? The interpolation tool for sound creation on hardware synths – here’s the first synth of JazzMan – which can listen to the microphone re-model it and use this as a synth waveform but can also just synthesize sounds from oscillators via filter and stuff – the GUI is nice – you can just move the whole user interface by swiping it – so you can see the structure, the physical model engine and resonantors, the “mallet” section, 2 OSCs, filter like this:
added is sort of Clavia style mod input section that allows to control any parameter by just setting a range after picking one of the sources like velocity, one of 2 LFOs etc..
the main source of importance are these:
the string box is the one picking up audio as well as resonating by itself .. the Mallet & Resonator are not drivers – but sort of “rooms” that will process the material in a typical physcial modeling real-time manner – means resonator (which is basically a construction of waveguide/delays) and mallet changes the “sustained” part, makes it more noisy or adds some aspects to the sounds that help to design the “sustain level” sound to stay with these “noises”..
and the drivers are oscs..
you can listen to a demo here
OT warning: after all you might want to sample some ghosts, play them backwards to be used in this synth, go for this
Achja- gibts Ghostbusters in unseren Reihen?
Elastic Drums is a new iPhone app, it offers 6 tracks that can be easily programmed as 16step patterns, that can be chained and programmed as as song. 4 fx incl. reverb and gated reverb can be automated to it and recorded in realtime.

the shown screen shot tells it – it’s a fm capable and offers 4 synth engines of this complexity shown in here – this is not bad and has the classic stuff in it and a more complex kind of bringing noises in for snares and hihats and tonal stuff with a little noise stuff in it for bass drums and hihats – and there is clap and an FM percussion synth as well. there are even 4OP FM engines, grain, wobble and tom is also in – so this more comparable to the Elektron Machine drum than any other app or toy. the grain-one is more for handclaps and other stuff and is not about samples but something like a “nebula of dense noise”.
Wretch-Up – FX Looper based on input by Mouse on Mars looks very simple in the looks – it is 4 faders – a looper and with filter and feedback – in use you can perform on it a lot more than it looks – and yes – it has the typical Mouse on Mars Pitch-Effect based on a Delay. This may sound a bit “boring” but it is not – it reminds of playing with Electro Harmonix Loop Box it has feedback and it’s sound in a direct access and on a second “channel” you can record, play and reverse loop the live input and change the speed. it simple ends up in sound fx that you know if you have at least one album by Mouse on Mars – it’s typical and a lot of fun and obviously made for for performance.
Looks like, they got a Casio CZ on the iPad for us? The classic CZ series with phase distortion – possibly on the Casio booth on some/a
19.99€ – not cheap but … UPDATE: they got it!
named CZ App for iPad
What’s it about? These Synths:
CZ1 Digital Synthesizer , CZ5000, CZ3000 Digital Synthesizer and CZ101, CZ1000 Digital Synthesizer – I’d still also like to mention the more advanced VZ-series, which is sort of FM-competitor and capable of a lot more and casios outstanding 8-level-rate multistage envelopes, that are still quite unique.
Forum: Casio CZ Series
coming from: http://www.olilarkin.co.uk/index.php?p=virtualcz
you may have seen the Virtual CZ Plugin already? – so maybe the iPad is next? this has been spotted on some gathering where ppl speak another language ;)
