System 8 Update finishedSynth

Roland System 8 Update 1.2 – 8 Filter, 4×6 Osc-Types

New Update for System 8  V1.2  is here- there are 5 new filters with 6 variations – means – in System 8 mode you now have System 1, Jupiter 6 and Juno 106 with 12, 18 and 24 dB/Oct Types even though the 12dB/Oct Filter in the Juno 106 never existed but they all sound very authentic – additional to that 2 formant filter series of 12 types can do vowels and Harmonics allows to shift from 16′ to 2′ according to the RES-Setting and sounds somewhere between Comb, Side Band and Phaser effect.

the OSC got 2 new FM-Models with fixed frequency settings  1:1, 1,5, 2, 3,5 and 6 resp. 15:1 – the other one has Type A-F that seem to do another feedback and waveforms – maybe some more – it adds a dirtier note to it compared to the fine and nice and well tuned standard FM OSC – you may know, that 12 of those types already existed – and these FM duo-OSCs still got another FM called Xmod to FM between those again so – it makes a complex digital synth in here with Juno and Jupiter Filtering plus more and an overdub mode für the sequencer but no transpose, still – it’s totally worth to update – it’s free – and it’s worth to think about a System 8 if you don have one.. it’s now at 1210€ – which is very ok – I really do not necessarly need vintage Rolands with this – but – well I still have a smaller number but – it is a very cool work horse featuring a sound that is really worth the name Roland..

so the FM oscs got 2 OPs and sort of sum up to 4 OP in a way – but it’s not the same as a standard 4OP FM Yamaha synth but it is a lot more than most standard synths got and more than any analog synth ever had.
