Dan has done it in software for Macs and PCs and works like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEHPR5Upkk8 it has 3 special modes, one for timing, repeats and transposing (Octaves). the software is a bit different in GUI but basically does the same. just check the demo which is quite self explanatory.
