OK, hier der Thread zum anderen aktuellen EMU SP1200 Clone Projekt. Ordnung muss sein!

Diesmal von "low hiss". Dieser postet regelmässig auf Gearslutz. Im Gegensatz zum Isla SP2400 soll dieser sich näher am Original orientieren, z.B. was den charakteristischen Pitchshift-Algorithmus.

Projekt ist für die Puristen ggfs. spannender.

Auch er will sein Gerät zur Serienreife entwickeln und hat dafür Unterstützung (ist aber noch nicht klar wer).

...ich habe bei GS nicht alles gelesen, aber bei mir hatte sich der Eindruck eingestellt, dass es auf eine DIY-Version rausläuft?...

Werden die AD/DA Wandler klingen wie beim Original? Welche Filter sind geplant? M.W. unterscheiden sich diese bei der SP1200 von Kanal zu Kanal.

I am currently working with an established eurorack modules manufacturer for the PCB design and analog circuitry, which will include the updated SSI2144 filter (made by Dave Rossum as a better version of the SSM2044), the same TL084 channel output op-amps, and analog input filtering modeled after the real thing.

...ja, vielen Dank für das Raussuchen - den Abschnitt hatte ich auch gelesen, aber eher aus dem Zusammenhang verstanden, dass er, da er Informatiker und kein Elektroniker ist sich da Unterstützung beim entwerfen des PCB geholt hat...

...gerade dieser Abschnitt hatte mich dann in die DIY-Richtung gedreht...

Er schreibt am Anfang vom GS Thread auch klar, dass er den Original-Formfaktor anstrebt. Ob das heisst, das es ein komplettes Produkt mit Gehäuse geben wird ist sicherlich nicht 100% klar. Auf den Fotos ist übrigens eine Attrape mit Potis anstelle der finalen Fader dargestellt. Das darf nicht verwirren: Soll 1:1 mit Fadern werden. Also große Kiste.

Er sieht sein Projekt übrigens komplimentär zum anderen Clone von Isla. Kommt im GS-Thread als angenehmer Typ herüber. Verspricht nicht zu viel.

Damit wird jeder seine eigene Version Minimal Old School bis Maximal sonst was bauen. Sehr löblich!

...diese Tatsache darf man nicht unterschätzen: wäre das OS des genoQs Octopus nicht nicht open source, dann hätte ich hier einen sehr-sehr teuren Türaufhalter - so wird aber immer noch weiterentwickelt (sind nur drei Leute, aber immerhin!) und es gab letztes Jahr ein tolles neues OS-release...

Korrektur: Wird etwas kleiner.

Hier eine Auflistung aus oberem Thread:

• A more compact layout
• Portable, with the option to either run on battery or plugged into the wall
• Some effects (reverb, delay, compression, etc...) assignable to individual sounds
• Access to external usb storage in addition to the internal storage which is an SD card
• Sounds stored in wav, so you can just copy/paste to and from a computer
• Variable bit-depth from 12 to 1bit, on a per-pad BASiS
• Wireless transfer of sounds to/from a phone or pc
• The ability to both tune AND decay a sound (one of my pet peeves with the SP haha)
• Access to a lot more sample time if you want to, but also the option to keep the same 10s & 2.5s limitations
• And a lot more...

Currently working features (will try to keep this up to date):

• The 4 banks of 8 pads wired and working, playing sounds and able to be cycled through
• 8 pots wired and able to control volume or pitch of the individual sounds from all 4 banks
• Overall volume knob
• Multi-pitch mode
• Multi level mode
• Channel assign
• Truncating samples
• Basic 24ppq sequencer & quantizing
• Overall user interface for all the menus, using a 16x2 LCD screen (may switch to a 20x4 to be able to display more info)
• Reverse engineered pitch-shifting algorithm

Andere Unterschiede zum SP-2400 sind, dass es eine 12-Bit-Maschine bleibt, man aber die Bitrate bis zu 1 Bit runterfahren kann. Und anstelle von Pads sollen Cherry-MX-Switches zum Einsatz kommen. Das Pitchshifting des SP-1200 soll überdies unterschritten werden können. Als Effekte sind bis jetzt Low-Pass, Hi-Pass, Distortion, Reverb, Phaser und Time-stretching integriert (kann man im neuesten Video-Dreiteiler auf Instagram hören). Noch geplant sind Compressor, Limiter, EQ, Pitch Bend, Delay, Flanger und Chorus. Also ganz konservativ wird dieser Nachbau nicht.

Korrekt. Einige Poster auf GS teilen auch klar mit, dass der Workflow auf jeden Fall erhalten sein muss. Low Hiss bestätigt auch, dass alle "höheren Funktionen" in entsprechenden Untermenüs untergebracht sein werden. D.h. also, dass die Menüführung mit dem kleinen LCD quasi identisch sein wird (mit ein paar Erleichterungen).

Cherry Switches finde ich gut. Siehe 909 oder Cirklon - kann man sehr schnell mit arbeiten!

Ich finde den Ansatz von "low_hiss" viel sympathischer und authentischer als den von ISLA, allerdings frage ich mich, ob ein Einzelner (ggf. auch mit Unterstützung wie oben beschrieben) ein Gerät in Serien- und Marktreife an den Start kriegt. Ich wünsche es ihm auf jeden Fall!

These products were samplers (like the Fairlight CMI & IIx, Emulator II, Emax), drum machines (Emu SP12/1200, Linn LM-1, Oberheim DMX), or FX processors (delays, reverb, pitch-shifter from AMS, Lexicon, Publison, Eventide, Quantec, EMT, Korg, Roland, Ibanez, Bel).
I was lucky enough to try some of these machines in my lab, or going to studios equiped with them. When I had no possibility to listen to one of these, I built a prototype based on the original schematics (only the audio part).
I’ve studied the different 8 and 12-bit converters used in these products, and the techniques to improve the resolution of them (floating point conversion, uLaw ComDAC, analog companding, log + exponential amplifiers).
I cannot really tell you what the next OTO product will be (it’s too early for that), but I’m quite excited about it.
But I give you a small clue : this product could include a very close hardware and software emulation of Biscuit in it, among many other things…
The first prototype is planned for may, and if everything is OK we’ll start the industrial process in september.

Beides ist geplant: sowohl ein DIY-Kit für SMD-Bastler als auch eine komplett vormontierte Version:

Ich denke, sobald alles geprüft wurde und man einen letzten Prototypen mit allem, was am Ende dazugehören soll, zusammengebaut hat, wird man auf Crowdfunding zurückgreifen, um in Serie gehen zu können. Das würde am meisten Sinn machen.

Keine Ahnung. Sehe ich auch nicht. Bild ist aber als Link eingebunden. Vielleicht deswegen?

Die Forumssoftware bietet die Möglichkeit den Link zu entfernen. Hab ich jetzt ausprobiert. Jetzt sehe ich das Bild!
