http://www.bigbluelounge.com/forums/vie ... a0ed1329a5Let me explain a little. Even though the Electribes support MIDI, they don't send or receive ordinary controller messages as do many of the more expensive hardware synths and some software synths too. Electribes receive and transmit so called NRPN (non registered parameter number) messages. These messages consist of controllers 98 and 99, which set the number of the NRPN event and controller 6 (sometimes also 32)(not 8 as in the manual), which sets the value of the currently selected NRPN event. As far as I kno, NRPNs were introduced as a sort of extended controllers. This is because you have about 16000 different NRPN messages. One important difference between NRPN and controller messages is that you can't set the number of the NRPN and it's value in the same MIDI message. Once you have selected the number of the NRPN message you want to control, CC6 (and CC32) will change the value of the currently selected NRPN event, as long as a new pair of CC98 and CC99 isn't sent. Some sequencers, such as Cakewalk, internally support NRPN events and show the combination of the suitable controller messages as NRPN events. Unfortunately many of the softsynths (I don't know about Fruity) will allow you to control them only with ordinary controller messages. I am not 100% sure about this, but in the case of the electribes the controllers 98 and 99 are sent only once per knob and after this values of the CC6 (CC=continuous controller) message are sent. This means that you might be able to control the cut off knob by assigning it to CC6. However, as Electribe uses NRPNs, all the knobs would send only CC6 messages apart from CC98 and 99.
