Hallo!

ich habe, da ich seit kurzem eine x0xbox besitze, eine ganze menge neue features in das OS programmiert, und das ganze hier released. Schwerpunkt Produktion, kreativer Prozess.

Features:

1)Neuer MIDI mode für die Integration mit einem Host: Starten/Stoppen, Pattern Selektieren, Momentane Transponierung - alles über NoteOn/NoteOff, die Transponierung tonart-korrigiert (optional)
2) Extrem aufwendiger musikalischer Randomizer, der nach euren Vorgaben (meistens) sinnvolle neue patterns erstellt oder gezielt verändert - auf Knopfdruck.
3) Automatische Variationen durch zufällig hinzugefügte Accents, Octaven und Slides - alles einzeln einstellbar hinsichtlich der wahrscheinlichkeit
4) Gate Time einstellbar (global) - kürzere noten, längere noten
5) Swing jetzt fein einstellbar in 10% schritten, und auch ohne bug im MIDI Sync mode

Um dies alles möglich zu machen, habe ich alle Track Modes de-aktiviert. Wer diese modes braucht, muss leider draussen bleiben:)

ja wow ganz genau wie funktioniert´s???ich bin nicht so gut in solchen dingen...
btw auf den trackmode kann ich jut verzichten gibt ja pattern chaining ;-)

- liest du conbox readme!

- eventuell treiber für die xoxbox installieren (steht im README von conbox) - bei mir auf WIN7 gings ohne

- xoxbox in` PC stöpseln (USB)

- conbox.exe starten

- testweise mit conbox "Connect to X0XB0X" - wenn du das tempo siehst und verstellen kannst, ist die verbindung ok (wenn nicht im forum nach tips suchen), dann wieder "Disconnect"

- xoxbox auschalten, dann auf BOOTLOAD stellen, dann wieder einschalten

- wenn ganz viele LED`S leuchten lieber nochmal ein- und ausschalten

- in conbox aut "Upload Firmware"

- x0xb0x.hex auswählen in dem ordner MarOS1.2

- Taste drücken; uploaden; warten - 10 sekunden

- xoxbox aus; normalen modus wählen; einschalten;

- MarOS1.2.pdf lesen, sonst wird das nix:)

Keine Angst, es kann sein dass es mal nicht klappt, aber es kann kaum sein, dass du kiste damit kaputt machst.
Bugs/wishes gerne reporten..

…welches OS hat meine Xoxbox denn danach?
Sokkos, nonxox oder das normale(Name grad entfallen)?
Oder besser gesagt für was für ein OS sind diese Änderungen?

PS: Auch blöd von mir, der Name MarOs sagts eigentlich schon es ist ein komplett neues OS, richtig!?

Ach im notfall einfach das readme lesen bei dem conbox.. das ist recht gut.

Das OS ist ursprünglich sokkOS2.0, davon habe ich die track modes, und ein ganz paar kleinigkeiten des keyboard modes (manuell slides, accents spielen) deaktiviert, um die neuen features machen zu können. Im grundzustand sollte KEIN unterschied zu sokkos zu merken sein. Außer man weiss was geht..!!

sokkOS ist auch "nur " adafruit1.05 mit ein paar erweiterungen, von daher...))

coole arbeit, wollts schon länger mal testen, hab zur zeit aber viel um die ohren.. die neuen features klingen auf jeden fall sehr brauchbar bzw interessanter als die, die damit ersetzt wurden. :supi:

ich werd mir das Bei gelegenheit auch mal aufspielen, die Möglichkeit, die Gate Time zu variieren hat es mir auf dem Papier angetan.
Die restlichen Neuerungen interessieren mich allerdings weniger.

NOCH EIN PAAR NÜTZLICHE TIPS,
aus dem xoxbox forum. Anmerkungen zum letzten punkt sind sehr willkommen, und werden eventuell in das nächste update einfliessen!


MIDI Sync Mode: this isn't completely clear, but then again I don't have a DAW, just a sequencer but the theory should still hold. When you say "by pressing F#1" is that on the x0xb0x keyboard as well as from a sequencer? What modes is this designed to work in (User-A etc)? Actually that question relates to all functions - any way of outlining exactly what modes each item works in??

It works only in MIDI Sync mode - I thought that`s obvious. Any note-press mentioned relate to incoming midi, not to the box`buttons. The entire mode is meant to make the box play the right thing at the right time without touching the box` buttons, controlled from "outside". Can`t say how much sense this makes if it`s not a DAW to control it..

Auto Var is applied in any mode whenever the thing is playing, but to EDIT it you must be in USER_B mode.

Swing and Gate length is also applied in any mode, but to EDIT it you must be in play mode, not in pattern edit mode (buttons are used elsewise there).

Randomizer is available only in pattern edit mode.

Smart Randomizer and New Macro Functions: seems to work well, and gives great scope for variations. i take it though there isn't any easy way to get back to your original (pre-randomised) pattern without selecting another pattern and then selecting back again? Might be better using "Slide Button (“Default”): Defaults the pattern to “da-da-da-da-da-da...”." to reset the pattern to its original?

To go back, go to any other play mode (without having pressed DONE) and then back (same workflow as for any other editing) - But your idea is actually good and reasonable, - I`ll consider it (next update will be usability only).

New Swing: seems to work but not terribly useful as the results were not overly noticeable. Maybe the new depths require a lot of button pressing compared to the old version? My tempo was around 116 - should it be higher to get a more noticeable effect? Might just be my patterns were duff!

The tempo is fine. Press is 2,3 times to get 20%, 30% swing - a subtle swing sometimes used by me. Press it 4,5,6 times to get an obvious swing. Press it 10 times to get straight triplets.

Variable Gate Time: works but wasn't able to get anything that sounded 'good' so maybe need to experiment with different types of pattern.

Typical 303 Acid pattern are better at normal length, no doubt. It`s just perfect what the thing normally does. But I found very cool patterns for shorter gate length, when there is also many longer-than-one-step notes, so the remaining short notes sound like little "ghost notes". Certain other patterns in certain contexts make sense with longer gate times. I have the Env-Mod-Zero mod, so I can create pad-like constant-output patterns, that are just "flat" for example, which I think is cool, and be it just "for the break". Also when running lower tempo, say 80 bpm, having longer gate times also is useful, I think ( I have 2 main projects, and one is, well, ..slow)

Automatic (Runtime-) Variation: Sounded good, especially in the very low settings as introduced a nice variety. Could this be made available while the pattern is running? Otherwise its a bit clunky going into User-B while things are stopped then going back again to hear any results?

Yes, I`m currently thinking about exactly this, working on it. My idea at this point is, that in any play mode the workflow could be like this:
1) Press and Hold the Tempo Knob
2) While holding it select the parameter you want to change (Slide Var Prob., Accent Var. Prob., Octave Var. Prob) by pressing SLIDE, ACC, UP.
3) The box keeps playing - but LED (step/bank etc) don`t light anymore, because now you`re in Adjustment mode for Auto Variation.
4) Now turning the tempo knob increases/ decreases the probabilty of the parameter selected before - and the value is shown on bank LED
5) To change a different parameter press SLIDE, ACC or UP again.
6) To disable all auto var press DONE
7) To leave the mode press the Tempo Knob again

Hallo liebe Leute!

Ich habe zwei Fragen zu diesem Thread:

1. Welche ist die letzte version von MarOS? Und, wenn ich das richtig verstehe ist das eine Komplettversion, dass heißt damit tausche ist das ganze OS auf der x0x aus. Ich denke, aktuelle läuft da diese standard 1.05 oder wie die heisst, mit der man noch nicht mal pattern copy machen kann...

2. Funktioniert das dankenswerter Weise auch für den Mac geschriebene Prog zum updaten des OS auch (problemlos) auf dem neuesten Mac "OS X Mavericks"? Ich hab bei anderen Programmen immer mal wieder mitbekommen, dass die die Kompatibilität testen musste etc...


Ich würde meine x0x an diesem WE sehr gern auf das neueste MarOS updaten und bin für schnelle Infos sehr dankbar!

Danke, habe ihn angeschrieben. Da er aber selbst nach eigenen Angaben Win7-user ist, weiß ich nicht, ob er bezgüglich Mac OS der richtige Ansprechpartner ist.

Daher hier nochmal die allgemeine Frage in die Runde, ob Conbox zum updaten des X0X - OS auf einem neuen Mac mit "OS Mavericks" problemlos läuft?

Ist schon etwas länger her, aber da ich gerade auf SokkOS 2 geupt habe, bestätige ich mal, für die Interessierten, das es geht.
Es ist nicht schön, aber wir sind ja alle Nerds :lol:
Man braucht X11 auf dem Mac, neuer geht nur noch xquartz --> Folge Link auf der Apple Seite
Man braucht, ich hab es zumindest installiert, die USB Treiber für Mac --> siehe URL in der Conb0x readme, ja genau, lesen!
Man braucht Conb0x ;-)
Starten von Conb0x, ist nicht schön --> beliebige Taste drücken dann erscheint das Menü
Dann in Systemeinstellungen den Port auswählen --> mit den Pfeiltasten Rechts bzw. Links kann man durch die Ports springen, da kommen so Sachen wie Bluetooth oder bei mir Nokia serial :lol: --> bis etwas mit USB Serial auftaucht dat isser, wenn die X0XB0X an USB hängt.
Dann mit Conb0x einen Verbindungstest durchführen, wenn alles o.k., dann X0XB0X Ausschalten, auf Bootload schalten, X0XB0X Einschalten --> LED's auf der Linken Seite der X0XB0X sollten leuchten
So Firmware update, Oberer Menüpunkte in Conb0x, Firmware auf deinem Datenträger raussuchen und los!

Das war jetzt mal so aus dem Kopf, war gestern schon etwas später, hoffe einigermaßen verständlich.
