hi there, well that looks very interesting:
do you have some more info about it..
the matrix look primising, but the "spiral"? hmm, maybe it is more a design thing.. I could not really imagine circular GUI knobs to be of help for better overview.. but it looks cool..
you need / want some input? you are right at the right place..
I did some things that I find necessary for a Sequencer to work herE:
www.Sequencer.de/specials/sequencer.html
(below!!!) I listed some things you might find usefull..
well, these "everyone" is just me, but I have an older thread on the old board which contains some more Sequencer talks..
it is in german ,so you might not find it ..
it's "the perfect Sequencer" in the old forum and some more.. peter (klangraum) is also looking for a nice concept see DIY..
well, how about pushing this to the english section and try to bring together more recent ideas since the Sequencer stuff developed over time and why not re-thinking the concept..
I do a lot of live performance, others prefer the studio work, imho most studio ppl do simply use the old schoolish software (to me it appears sort of oldish, espacial controlling things or automate things..)
imo the best Sequencer is the one that is intuitive, easy to check your music visually .. so the screen of a computer isn't bad..
I found the TR-type Sequenceruencing is very close but there are some things to do:
1) pitches and gate time
2) velocties (no accent only, full range!!)
3) controllers and what is controlled ..
4) rolls and automated and shuffled events ..
imo a bigger interface is cool as long as you can carry it..

you do not necessarly need loooongish displays but they do help..
how about combining the TR-type and the "arrangement windows" of modern soft Sequencers?
maybe you could use LED or other displays to show the status and notes..
why? the problem with TR is: it is made for triggering and not for pitch view..
so maybe include colours (not too many!!) for octave shift
and displays that show the notes.. possibly this is one step closer..
and why not showing the notes as a "piano roll" with LEDs (one or better 2 octaves in range , changing will change the color of the LEDs,
why? you can show chords..
not so cool ,still: if you play the chords more arper like!!
you still have to press the step key to show the notes..
it's also something to think of..
hey, will you be in frankfurt, music fair??
maybe we can meet and talk??..
