Tempera - Granularsynth

:xenwink:

Hello fam!Hope you're having a pleasant early week! A fresh Tempera v2.2-beta10is ready:
  • Polished when an emitter finds itself behind a held key when the overlay keyboard is hidden, that key is transluscent and the emitter can be seen through. It is up for consideration whether this works, and/or if this should be tweaked further.
  • Support brand new crash reporting mechanism -- as is widely appreciated, Tempera's firmware is pretty stable, but every once in a while a crash occurs. These are so few and far in between that they are hard to catch, reproduce and fix. Now when the firmware crashes, a hopefully useful information will appear on the displays. Please take a photo and post it in tempera or DM/email it. Each photographed crash will earn the reporter an intangible prize of gratitude!
  • New batch loading of samples: when loading an audio file into a track, a whole folder can be loaded in.
    • Inside the folder, each audio file, sorted alphabetically, will be loaded consecutively into the tracks starting from the one being loaded into. This means that if you batch-load into the first track, all 8 will be loaded in; but if you batch-load into the 3rd track, only tracks 3 4 5 6 7 8 will be loaded in.
    • This can take a while, please wait until the knob LEDs finish blinking
    • The tracks are loaded in auto-trimmed to their length or ~11s, whichever is smaller
    • The tracks are set to BPM/Hz if it's indicated in the filename (news-and-updates)
  • Tweaked on-grid PolyAT is tweaked in sensitivity. It is now both faster but also more volatile. In particular please note the before and after (I think this might be too sensitive).
If you find the time, please give it a go and report feedback

NEW BETA!

Hello dears, a nice Saturday deserves a nice Tempera beta firmware. Thank you for the testing and bug reporting, a few improvements and fixes are ready: v2.2-beta12

  • Fixed wrong MIDI channel handling introduced by previous beta, channel 16 should now be working fine again
  • FIxed bottom brackets indicating BPM quarter notes in <:Tracks:1213121087605571614> Trim are now always shown
  • Fixed a source of live grains glitching sound, hopefully the last
    :crossed_fingers:
  • Improved when one of the step sliders in Step LFO is turned, a temporary big slider with indicated value appears, in addition to information on number of steps. The resolution of the steps has been clamped to 3 decimal points to allow for predictable value entry. The big slider will disappear after a second of not turning the knob, but can be made to disappear sooner by pressing eg. Scroll button momentarily
    :mag:
    :control_knobs:
  • New function: Merge canvas. Instead of loading the whole canvas, a
    :white_circle:
+ Load (which changes text to Merge) will load the canvas without audio files.

... kann bitte bitte jemand Infos zur v2.2-beta13 geben??
An die FW komm ich ran, weiß aber nicht was sich geändert hat...

Hello, it's almost the end of the week which means time for another Tempera beta firmware v2.2-beta13:
  • Fixed small Emitter MIDI bug where under some circumstances Out needs to be toggled as well in order for Into work,
  • Fixed hopefully a Step LFO bug where sometimes a deactivated step would play out. In other words, if the total Lengthis 8, sometimes the 9th step would play.,
  • Polished Max volume parameter now applies a stronger attenuation.,
  • Implemented external MIDI PolyAT. Since we're very happy with Tempera's grid PolyAT pressure response, Tempera now also listens to polyphonic pressure from an external MIDI keyboard. Bring out your Linnstruments and Osmoses, (disable full MPE
    🙂
) and map an axis on a parameter

Hello friends!Long in the works, Tempera beta firmware v2.2-beta14 is ready. This one is a strange beta, and I recommend some caution with trying it out. Even very basic expectations like being in tune might break. With all the firmware additions, things started hitting the wall with available DSP power, and new optimization gains are becoming marginal at ever increasing effort. There's simply no more room for any additional processing. So in order to make room for new processing, this is an attempt to cheat by changing Tempera's DSP rates. The basic idea is that Tempera becomes a hybrid with all samples stored in 48kHz , while audio is processed at 41.4kHz(the number is not a typo). This seems like a neat solution for the following reasons:
  • Above best-case 20kHz, we were processing audio for nobody to hear anyway
  • Grains pitched higher simply use a higher mipmap so aliasing is not an issue
  • Grain pitched lower use the full (now defacto oversampled) original sample so high-frequency loss is not an issue either
  • This maneuvre saves everyone between 15% and 16% of DSP budget
  • No change to factory or user audio samples, your libraries and canvases remain as they were
    🎉
This beta should verify that there is no regression, that things are in tune and overall functionality is retained. Well basically it is to verify that things have, in fact, not changed
🙃

Apart from a few bugfixes fixed along the way:
  • Fixed a bug where a BPM grain would decrease in volume with a higher note
  • Fixed a regress bug where BPM grains behaved weirdly with note vs cell sizes making percussive canvases wrong
  • Fixed the LP24 filter should now be better balanced in volume vs other filters
  • Fixed a bug introduced earlier which lowered the Global volume
    ⚠️
  • Fixed gain on external mic is higher because it was too low
Grab your kilobytes here: https://fw.beetlecrab.audio/tempera/tempera-2.2-beta14.firmware , and please report bugs
