Moog Prodigy clone DIY

Ok...something just popped on the gate input!
The VCA is now always on...the synth still works though and it takes CV!
Gate, S-Trig and the Envelopes show no function...something must be broken due to the short.
Any ides where I have to look? I'm not really able at reading schematics...only on a very basic level.

Nothing needs to be connected to the S-TRIG. Use only the GATE and CV.
You need to check each unit ( VCO1, VCO2, VCF. ADSD1, ADSR2, LFO) individually.
Place your order in the chaos, shorten the length of the wires. So it will be easier to deal with problems.
Check again that all components are installed correctly. And in its place.
What instruments do you use? (Oscilloscope, Multimetr etc.)
For the analysis you can not do without the oscilloscope!
 
And of course, any test starts with PSU. :school:
And check all the voltages on the chips +12V/-12V.

Voltage Triggers

S-Trig signals are different than V-Trigs and use a special 2-pin blade-type connector made by Cinch/Jones. Basically, an S-Trig is just a passive switch closure to ground. This means an S-Trig is an inverted version of V-trig, and without the high-side voltage. Moog keyboards produce S-Trigs and Moog 911 Envelope Generators use them to control their cycle. One advantage of S-Trigs is that many source signals can be connected in parallel to create a logical OR arrangement so any signal makes it through. I believe this was Bob's intended goal and he thought it would be important for adding a multitude of controllers. The disadvantage of S-Trig is that it is not readily patched like other signals because it uses a special connector and signal, and it must go through a conversion

Ich bin jetzt hier in einer Sackgasse und komme nicht weiter.
Es funktioniert alles bis auf die Envelopes.
Ich hab alle Caps und Transistoren doppelt überprüft und kann keine Fehler finden. Die Verkabelung habe ich exakt nach dem Wiring Guide durchgeführt.
Problem:
Attack und Decay/Release haben keine Einfluss ebensowenig wie der Switch.
Wenn ich VCA Sustain aufdrehe und eine Taste drücke öffnet der VCA allerdings bleibt er offen und schließt nicht wieder.
Erst wenn ich Sustain wieder zudrehe verstummt der Prodigy.
Mit Sustain auf 0 und decay auf "voll" passiert allerdings nichts.
Auch Filter Countour und die Envelop scheinen keinen Einfluss zu haben.

Hat irgendjemand einen Tipp wo der Fehler liegen könnte?
Hab ich evtl. die falschen ICs?

ein Scope wäre hiflreich.
damit kannst Du zumindest den gate und Hüllkurve "sehen".
schau mal bitte mit Deinem DMM was beim gate an Spannung anliegt und ob die bei Note-on/off auch entsprechend sich gegen Null ändert.
ich selbst hatte bei einen MFOS ADSR ähnliche Probleme, falsche Verkabelung an Buchsen/pots.
weiterhin wäre der VCA offset abgleich hilfreich.
 
Transistors 3906 rotate correctly?
I use the same CD4007UBE and everything works fine!
I never had a problem with ADSR in Moog Prodigy DIY.
Somewhere you have an error without an oscilloscope will be difficult to find.
Make high-quality picture of your PCB, by the ADSR. What would have been clearly visible all the components ADSR.

Excellent work transistors J112. I spent testing. Ready 3 boards Moog Prodigy DIY.
Just work exellent 2N5457, is a good choice.

Ich beende gerade das Haible Compact Phasing Clone Projekt, danach kommt dann der Prodigy.
Wenn du von Musikding deine Bestellung erhalten hast gib mal bitte ein kurzes Feedback ob du auch das bekommen hast,

Ich war vor 3 Wochen in Berlin und habe meine Teile, für den Haible Phaser bei Banzai persönlich abgeholt.....
es fehlten 2 Teile und 3 Widerstandswerte waren falsch. Und die Werte von den Wima Kondensatoren waren auch irgendwie komisch. 5% genauigkeit ist was anderes.
Ärgerlich wenn man Freitags-Abends anfangen will zu löten und dann das :selfhammer:
Klar, ich hätte bei denen im "Laden" alles mit der Rechnung abgleichen können.... :floet:

Ich bin mal gespannt wie das mit dem Gehäuse so wird - ich möchte ja gerne in Holz und gleich mit 3 1/2 Oktave Keyboard usw.
Egal, irgendwann ist immer das erste mal :school: :mrgreen: :phat: :roll:

Ich hatte das eben durcheinander bekommen, ich dachte du hättest auch bei Banzai bestellt ; habe es oben korrigiert.

Ich hatte es schon mehrfach,dass Bestellungen unvollständig ausgeliefert wurden und falsche Dinge im Paket waren.
Das Schlimme ist, dass ich teilweise bis zu 6 Wochen auf die noch ausstehenden Teile warten musste und das denen erst auf Nachfrage aufgefallen ist, dass ich noch was bekomme.
Als ich dann das Geld zurück gefordert habe kam nur ein..."Sorry" am Telefon. Das ist schon grenzwertig was da abgeht.

Hör bloß auf mit Banzai, da werd ich nach diversen schlechten Erfahrungen (fehlende Teile / Artikel, die als "am Lager" gelisted sind, sind nicht lieferbar / telefonisch nur über AB zu erreichen / keine Antwort auf Emails + Support-Tickets) werd ich diesen Laden in Zukunft meiden. :doof:

Dmitry, could you please post how to completely wire up the MIDI/CV interface and where the MIDI In/Out jacks connect?
It'd be also nice to have some information about the trimmers on the MIDI/CV board and how/what there is to calibrate.

Sorry Greg ich hatte mich verschrieben. Ich meinte R40 bei der MIDI/CV interface PCB.
In der BOM steht da nur Res1.
 
Mal ne Frage an alle Erbauer : Woher habt Ihr die 27nF für das VCF?

Ich dachte an Styroflex/Mica/Polyprop, die sind aber nirgendwo mehr zu bekommen. Die einzigen 27nF, die ich gefunden habe, waren die Greenies vom Musikding...
Da muss doch noch mehr gehen? ;-)
