Tenori-On App goes Sampling

Yamaha’s Tenori On App „TNR-i“ has just got a nice update (which is free for users – as always): you can now record (!) and share audio and assign user audio – the samples for tenori-on must be unter 5 seconds long (maybe because there is not real envelope – it’s a quite simple drum player kind of sample handling) – anyway – now it can also be sync’ed by WIST – that’s a WLAN/Wifi synch tool that some of us know from Korgs instruments. nice, that Yamaha and Korg…

iPad Music App at normal speed / iPad iOS 5 auf Normalgeschwindigkeit bringen (seit update von 4.X)

WRONG SPEED ON PODCASTS IN THE MUSIC APP? (iPad only, caused by upgrade from 4.X) I had a lot of problems since iOS 5 to play podcasts at normal speed (some got 1/2 or 2x speed and since there is no more choice on the iPad to set it to other „speeds“ – there is just one solution: 1) go to the Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings – it will delete every Wifi passwords and settings as well (start screen, how many emails to load  etc.) important…

Logic @ App Store – Logic Pro X coming?

Apple is kind of strange, from now they sell Logic Pro 9 for 150€ and Main Stage 2 for 24€, of course it’s smaller (430MB). So Logic X might be one step closer, and since they actually SELL Logic Pro 9 it looks a LOT like a completely new non compatible Logic Pro X coming sooner or later. Since they don’t need package and posting it it’s cheaper – but they also threw away all those sound packages on the DVDs, most of the built in effects are unchanged since…

Lemur is back – as an iPad app

App Store – Lemur is back, I knew it had to come, it comes fairly late – after touchOSC and MIDItouch it might be hard since it’s 40€ which is really a lot. I tried a Lemur in 2006 and it was reviewed in Synthesizer-Magazin #2, the second issue ever made but had to sell it to pay my bills to move to another „yet cheaper“ house. I sort of hoped they’d make it to the app world and they did — and yes, the JazzEditor had it’s odds, it wasn’t…

Phaedra Modulation Sequencer App

new for iPads – the 4 Track Sequencer „Phaedra“ – a classic modulation type of step sequencer (can of course control pitches as well). the name is inspired by Tangerine Dream and may refer to the Zeit and Phaedra Sequencers (Hardware) from Infection Systems, UK btw: the app is not yet up in the Appstore but almost ready,… here’s a closer look.. and controlling NLog – which is also an app on the SAME iPad. we all know that’s almost rare to have 2 music apps working together. all videos…

Thunderbolt Audio Interfaces? And why the hell no 24 analog in interface?

Thunderbolt Audio Interface?. in addition to the Macbook Air Posting and the Mac / Audio situation – Apogee says Thunderbolt audio interfaces / soundcards will soon be available. High end products will come first. I doubt low end audio products will implement this standard – they will stick with USB IMHO. Apogee this is very likely to Apple abandon whole techologies, eg. killing Firewire without notice to the hardware audio makers.. “Technology like this only happens about once a decade. We are thrilled about the performance and simplicity Thunderbolt technology will…

Macbook Air vs iPad (sizes of the 11″ compared to the iPad)

just a little change to compare the sizes – this is the Macbook Air 11″ ok, the Air isn’t really made for music, but in fact it’s much faster than the first Intel Macbook 1.1 (2.0 GHz), about twice as fast. It has no firewire, only 2 USB ports – via Thunderbolt there are already „interfaces“ that make firewire, usb from it, the new cinema display 27″ is one of those, but there’s also one that does not force you to buy displays – of course.  they are still rare,…
